I swear my car must get "garage-sick" so always wants to stay at the garage. I am driving a nice 1.3 micra now for a bit and monday morning the turbo will be taken off the car and opened up.

What is suspected is that the end of my previous EGT probe has lodged itself in the vanes and is preventing the turbo working as it should. Was rather horrified to see the end of the probe (burnt and snapped off) when I went to get the new probe fitted today..... Fingers crossed the turbo is OK as although it is sounding funny like the vacuum isn't working as it should, there is no graunching / loss of oil, and there was no real play in the exhaust compressor side (removed downpipe to take a look at this today)

Sooooo, means I have missed WSM, missed a TDI dyno day.... gutted! :(

Well - in hindsight, once I realised the probe wasn't reading, I should have taken it out and capped off the hole with a bolt whilst the new probe came to me.... I was not expecting an EGT probe to break down and snap like that, after all it is designed to be hot...... :wonder: I am hoping it was just damage inflcted during the Ring turbo explosion which impaired it, and the current fresh straight EGT probe will be fine.

I've been enjoying the fabia problem game aswell! I have had a part of my rear bumper changed due to the crash and it turns out the car has already had a crash before and the bumper was replaced and they didn't put plastic primer before painting the new one so managed to strip the paint with a pressure washer!! Scary as I used to clean it every 2 days with the

same washer!!

I missed the wsm meet aswell because I had work :(

quick question mate? You said you were going to remap your car yourself? Is it possible for you

to map mine to stage 1 if you have the equipment? Was going to take it to rtech but after what you said about my

mates over boost problem its worrried me slightly

Turbo is dead. :( EGT probe has gone right through, and in the process done damage to the back part of the turbine, and also bent a couple of VNT vanes.....

Being sent off to Romania for repair a.s.a.p, but I am yet again going to be mongrel'less for at least 2 weeks.....

Sorry to hear about that Jason, that is a royal pain in the arse.

I only hope it will be back in time for Castle Combe - That is 4 weeks away, so not getting panicky about that just yet.

Yeah - but then you can't really factor in the silliness in hindsight of refitting that broken probe, or at least not testing it and then removing it / capping off the hole until my new probe arrived.....

So is it the Micra around Combe if you cant get it back in time????

Garrett repair place out there, plus its where the turbo came from so would rather it went back to the person who sold it to me.
