Remote battery replacement

Featured Replies

One of my remote keys battery is flat (well, I hope that is the problem). I have a replacement battery on the way, and I've found the directions as to how to replace the battery. Small problem, however....

So far, even using a small jewellers screwdriver, I've been unable to get the blade in far enough to shift the cover at all. I must be missing a trick of some sort. Any suggestions as to how I can get the thing to open without damaging it?

Hi Paul

Arrived off my holiday in the early hours of the morning and found that my key wasn't working remotely (Suspect flat battery). Thankfully managed to get the car going (alarming) and made it home.

Is there any instructions as to which battery, fitting et al?

The manual couldn't be more unhelpful...

"We recommend that you have the batteries of the key replaced by a Škoda Service Partner" - but it then at least tells you what to do - but:

"The replacement battery must have the same specification as the original battery." and there's no picture of it either...

Ha, Skoda will probably cost you £30 to replace the battery...

It's usually a CR2032, we often fit them free of charge for our customers.

That's the one for the three-buton folding key. The biggest problem I had was getting the key apart to fit them.... Even being careful, I ended up scratching the key case a bit.

If the fob is that flat it will probably need re-coding to the alarm, so it is going to cost you a trip to the dealer and some dosh.

Most fobs give you about 90 secondsto get the old battery out and the new ones in before they lose their settings.

Last time i needed one it cost under £2 , and the service reception guy fitted it in the key for me while I waited. 'Nae Botha' as they say in Berwick.

Not in my case. Bought two batteries (fleabay) for less than £2.00. They took a week to arrived. After fighting with the fob and finally getting the old battery out, I put the new one in and followed the recoding produceure in the manual. That worked and I've had no problems with it since then.
