Anybody know where to get a Jumbo Box ?

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

I have a PD105 classic, and i'm taking it around France in july, but one thing that's p***ing me off is the lack of center arm rest. My Kia Ceed SW has one and i like having it there, whereas in the skud, i have nowhere to put my left arm! I've had a tentative look on flea-bay and seen nothing there ... anybody got another idea where i can get one (apart from a stealer obviously!).

Another question ... if i get one, does it replace the entire console or is it an add on ?

Any advice gratefully received!

The arm rest is useful and comfy, don't know why it is called a jumbo box though. One might imagine some enormous space inside it but actually it is quite small, air conditioned though.

And it's only air conditioned for as long as the inside of the car is warmer than the outside. What I mean is that you can't have cold air sent to the jumbo box and warm air sent to the rest of the car. I'd have preferred just cold air sent there no matter what.

the one in the kia is a split level thing ... handy top pocket for hiding the satnav and a bigger pocket for ... junk. it's not ac'd but the glove compartment is .... a bit random, but hey.

so anybody got any idea on where i can get one for a fiver or less (i'm perpetually broke so cheaper the better!)

German logic i guess, when you need to warm up, your not supposed to drink chilled drinks!

Not a snowball's chance in hell of that I'm afraid

If on a rare occasion they do come up on ebay you could add at least a 0 to that, and a bit more probably

i was kidding about the fiver :) the one thing I've come to realise about owning a skoda is ... there's sod all ever cheap about it. My old Toyota Avensis cost me very little to service or fix, but this thing can be mentally expensive.

I would suggest you contact Gary at Skospares in Parkstone, Poole, Dorset.

They only seem to break Skodas and I am sure he will have what you want, but probably not for a fiver!!

He currently has a 57 plate vRS in the yard.

thanks for the heads up .... i'll give him a call in the morning :)

Go on Ebay and type in Skoda Octavia armrest and you will see one made by Armster for £79. I have one of these and it's excellent and easy to fit.

Any circus will have one going, now that the use of wild animals is to be banned. :giggle:

numptie-boy ... thanks for the ebay link ..... it's up in price to 84 quid now but looks pretty good. there's also one at 50 quid but it looks a bit fragile, and basically screws directly into the plastic of the existing console .... i'm a big lad, and the first time i'd lean on it, it'd be busted :(

The armster screws into holes drilled into the side of the centre console too. I'm a big lad too and it's a taxi so it's getting leant on 10 hours a day. Had it on 2 cars now and no probs.

well thats a good recommendation :) i'm just selling my old satnav on fleabay and if i get enough for it (and the missus doesn't tag the cash for anything else) i may just partake of one of those armrests.....

it's the simple things in life that annoy the p1ss out of you when they aren't there ..... arm rests, steering wheel controls for the stereo, trip computer, ipod connectivity, rear speakers, remote central locking, power socket in the boot, false boot floor ... i have all of those in my ceeeeeeeeeeed, and none of those in my octy :/ but it's the octy i have to take to france because ultimately it'll give me way better fuel economy cuz the kia is a 1.6i and can only manage about 43 to the gall.....

cheers for the help guys :)

This is what you want:

It's about £150 though. About 20 quid more will get you the Aux In socket in place.

What is the vertical lever/sluice in the Box for, air con ?

  • 2 months later...

Has anybody bought one of these Jumbo boxes?

What is the vertical lever/sluice in the Box for, air con ?

Yeah it lets the Air con into the box, same as the dial in the glovebox

Assuming they can supply a right-hand drive version

Yeah, was just about to mention that, space for the handbrake is on the wrong side.

Edit: There's also this alternative, which is a bit cheaper, but again it's the left-hand-drive version from a European site:
