Front Pads Problem

Featured Replies

A mate,that I got my Octavia from,bought his wife a clean Y reg Fabia 1.9 Tdi.

The mot had advisory on front pads,so he got some from the factors and tried to fit them.

The pads he got are these.

When he removed one side, both pads were Type A (my letters) so he went back and was told the new pads are right, the only others are same shape but with sensor wire.

They copied this pic from the catalogue for him and he emailed to me.I asked if he'd checked the other side to see if there were two Type B's,he said no,it started sleeting so he put the old ones back.

I won't get over to him till Sunday so wondered if anyone had any ideas.

The lugs were made that shape for a reason,so I'm surprised that two of one type fitted, but they've performed fine for over three years. :S

Oops, sorry it came out that big. :'(

thats why people should go to the dealers for brake parts, that way the pads will be correct for the vehicle

i was asked the same when i wanted some cheap pads for the VRS, oh and you get they don't list them for that car or what size discs are they

they were actually cheaper at the dealer than spurious factor spec pads

I don't know it this helps, but this is what came off my mothers 1.9TDI Fabia

On one of them you can read a name: Padid 565

There was plenty of material on the pad (6-7mm), but some of them was cracking up and de-laminating from the back plate (top right one). They were replaced by Mintex ones by a local garage, but they did not keep the box for them.

P.S. Sorry for the colour scheme, it's my brothers room, who painted it 10 years ago as a teenager (he's now away at Uni).
