Fixed cost service plan

Featured Replies

I had a quote through the post from my dealer for a fixed cost service plan today. Just wanted to see whether it seems reasonable or not (I have a FL vRS TSI).

Appears to be for 5 years, first payment of £22.74 followed by £17.09 per month til the end. Included services says (mileage / Items included):

10000 : Engine Oil, Oil Filter

20000 : Engine Oil, Oil Filter, Filter Pollen

30000 : Engine Oil, Oil Filter

40000 : Engine Oil, Oil Filter, Spark Plugs, Filter Pollen

50000 : Engine Oil, Oil Filter

60000 : Engine Oil, Oil Filter, Air Filter, Filter Pollen

What are the typical costs of each service?

What things aren't listed above, that are likely to be needed to be paid for on top - ignoring tyres?

I don't know how reasonable this quote is, so if anyone has any input, please share!

Hi

I had an Inspection Service last november on a TDI with LongLife Oil for 154 pounds in Salford. (Long life oil is dearer).

There was also a change of brake fluid for 50 pounds and I was offered a cabin filter for an extra 34 quid. Total 240 pounds.

I make the following points:

- Skoda recomends brake fluid changes at two year intervals and also the cabin filter every two years. I don't see the brake fluid change in your list?

- Check whether you are being offered Fixed servicing, i.e. a Full Inspection service every 10k, or Extended servicing which alternates an Inspection Services every 20k with a simple Oil Service inbetween.

TBH, once the warranty is up, it is five mintues to change a cabin filter or air filter (19 pounds for both at Euro Car Parts), and just changing the oil and filter is a job for any garage I wouldn't pay more than 100 for.

If you are getting full Inspection Services each time I'd say ok, otherwise it's a little dear?

Edit: Forgot to add. New battery required at five years (owners manual recomendation) and Others on this forum will say timing belt requires changing at four years - Don't know if there is belt on your engine.
