unlocks and windows down overnight

CENTRAL LOCKING FAULT.

hi all, just a note to say how i cured this problem, all connections wiring loom etc were cleaned and checked and locks etc, i found that disconnection of the drivres door connector behind kick panel stopped it,

further work included removal of the drivers door control module, all dry and clear of corrosion, so i cut all the wires to it except the electric window leads.

it now central locks from all except drivers door which is manual, all that is missing, is lights on buzzer, interior light switch electric mirrors non work, but a small price compared with a £200

new unit on a 10yr old car at 150k miles.

best regards all paul.

Thanks for this, I need to get stuck into mine some day and hope to find it's just a loose/dirty connection.

By the way, why did you do this?

... so i cut all the wires to it except the electric window leads...

HI mr green, i did this because it kept unlocking and opening windows within minutes of parking and locking.

it is a key only system not remote, i tried all options before cutting cables, i read the diagram in the haynes manual and decided which cables to cut.

no corrosion was found or faulty switches, as a electronic engineer my attention went to faulty chips etc on the pcb. i had tested with a meter voltages etc.

my suspicion is that open and close signals were being falsely created. as i mentioned a bit steep for a module at £200 + vat and programming etc by vw skoda.

the can bus cables would probably have stopped it but i cut others to be sure, i carry tools and test gear and would not like it unlocked in manchester !!

this is four weeks ago and no further problems.

you may be lucky with yours and find corroded connections if so a clean and reconnect with connector strip or solder would do it then plenty of water protection with tape etc

best regards paulwren.
