AP brake conversion

Featured Replies

a very good friend of mine has opened his own company recently and is in the final stages of becoming an approved AP Racing dealer which means he can offer us good people good prices on brake conversions for both octy's and fabia's. he sent me the following information to pass on to you.

Octavia Vrs can have 330 x 28 mm grooved or drilled discs, mounted on alloy bells, coupled with 4 or 6 pot AP Racing Calipers. Fitting will include a standard fast road pad, braided goodridge hoses and AP racing brake fluid. There will obviously be a price difference between the two different sorts of calipers but not a huge amount.

All of these will fit inside standard 17" wheels. 356mm discs will be an option on 18" wheels, it is baisically a WRC sized tarmac rally disc.....

Fabia vrs can have the same as above, but only with an aftermarket 17" wheel, however the standard fabia vrs 16" wheel will accomodate the 315 x 28mm disc / bell combo however only with 4 pot calipers.

i was just wondering who would be instersted in having the AP brake conversion so i can find out some prices and get back to you all.

please start a list of whos intersted.

ok as stated just add name to list. the list is only for people that want to know price and might be intersted its not a list for Deferent

Forgive my lack of Knowage but what is the advantage of 6 pots over 4 pots? I thought AP brakes gave lots of feel in 4 pot mode?

Cheers

Mike

PS How Much?

PS How Much?

Couple of advantages, one being more even pressure over the face of the pad, multiple pistons are better than one on the middle. Also you get more force for a smaller master cylinder as it isnt pushing a whacking great piston.

Just a quick note and a question:

The brakes on the new ibiza cupra are 312mm AP 4-pot items which *seem* to fit onto the standard 312mm discs. ive heard reports of this setup being equal to, if not better than the 328mm Brembo setup (which is why seat are using them over brembo)

do you know if these are standard AP parts or specials for seat. and do they fit on the std 312mm discs? i belive the pricing of these is actually very competitive.. sat inbetween the cost of a decent 312mm TT setup and brembos, which of course need 17" wheels

I would possibly be interested in a set of these at the right price. (tho dont want red)[/quote']

Was also going to ask that. But wont be looking to do this for another year.

AP brakes on Ibiza Cupra require 17" wheels also.

interested in the price for the Octy kit.

also interested in how much the Ibiza AP set-up would cost so as to have a comparison.

Just the man.... cheers bill

(i didnt see you pass a pair to James at the RR day' date=' honestly) ;)[/quote']

LOL.. not a pair I just left the one for trial fitting on Mrs B Lupo.. and yes they will fit.

312mm 4pots on a Lupo.. handstand anyone :D

If the AP brakes bolt directly to the hub then you have to add the cost of the brackets to the Brembo calipers to match fairly, then they aint that far apart if you buy gen brackets, SEAT charge around
