Noob, please help! (wanting to trial item)

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, im new to the whole forum thing but really needed some help from people who know more about the engine than i do.., which could be quite a lot.

I recently got a micro-compressor.. read the instructions for the install and went completly blank.

it says i need to connect the hose to the micro compressor to the "breather pipe" where other manuals for other models suggest insalling the pipe onto the "inlet manifold supply air pipe"

which im guessing is the same thing no?

after some google research i established that there are two breather pipes.. one that blows hot air from the manifold and the other sucks.. sucks to somewhere.

I would love to get this thing working in my car. and would love to trail and review it for others. but im just baffeled by the instructions manual..

anyone out their got any ideas/knowledge/experience in these compressors?

Oh. My. God...!

I've got some magic beans, would you like to "trail" those as well?

They do say one born every minute. It's snake oil mate, bin it.

firstly, i didnt pay a penny.

because theirs so much contraversy about the MC i.e. some say is works wonders and clearly others say different.

bearing in mind their meant to do two things. 1) save fuel and 2)increase power.. the logic and science behind them are both in their favour.

now. i requested one for a trail in agreement i would be able to have the micro compressor, trail it and write a review about it then send it back. someone has done a similar thing with those stupid bit of tube with a fan in it from ebay. think it was about the electric turbos? which.. yes im not that stupid.

So im guessing none of you have ever tried them? alot of the forums and the people who have them installed in their car especially the HKS ones rave about them. some even print dyno results and 0-60times both before and after installation.. which i will be doing too and posting back the results.

i will also fill the tank up, drive until empty, once without the MC and once with it. to see if it really does.

you have to bear in mind. people who have 1.2's are always trying to squeze the most out of their engine. id suggest you read about micro-compressors, the science behind them and then the use of them in cars before you start screaming witch.

so for the interest of this trial/test whatever you want to call it.. im sure you'd all love to see if it fails now that your so sure it definatly doesnt work... can someone answer my initial question?

You mean one of these,ha ha ha ha ha.would'nt bother trying to fathom out how to fit that piece of carp.

You are right, someone does need to try hese things as it is all too easy to poo-poo stuff without having any info one way or the other!

I would, however, be a bit sceptical, as everyone would have fitted them if they had a sale or return offer, payable AFTER fitment.

As a sidestep... many years ago, there were gadgets called bill-buster (inc an improved mk 2) that promised to make calls on your home phone free of charge... They were of course, illegal as they were not approved for connection to BT systems.. This was how the maker sold so many... They must work if BT banned them, went the theory. Did they? Did they bow-locks!!!

You paid a fiver for a 25p peice if plastic, with a small non functioning bit of electonics (for authenticity). And people spent money and others made money and so did BT as everyone thought they were getting free calls!!!

Who do you complain to? BT? They would nick you for fitting it, whilst getting more out of you to start with... The seller? Disapeared up his own rectum!

Still, if you get to return it, the only loss is a bit of time fitting and removing it. If it works, sell them yourself on Ebay... Someone will pay for them, somewhere!!!

BTW", Anyone wanna buy a devise to get free calls? lol

As title states n00b!

Can i also have you bank account details............... :giggle:

Also if you want to get the lego play toy fitted correctly, take it to a garage, altho i can see what the mechanics will be thinking :p

It would probably end up causing more damage to the poor car !!

im not asking for you "oh your so thick" comments, because im actually not that thick at all im a fully qualified cisco network engineer which most of you probably wouldnt even know where to start. i am however not very clever with cars, despite changing the exhaust myself and upgrading my ECU aswell as fitting an alarm. I am mearly asking you for information about which is the breather pipe and which is the breather hose on a skoda fabia 1.2.. but seeing as none of you are actually answering im guessing your just as much of a noob as i am because you cant answer it. prove me wrong?

and as i clearly stated i didnt pay for it. it is a trail. a test. where i take the product.

fit it to my car.

trail it.

and write a report on it..

and thank you mrgf for you support, that is exactly why im trailing the product..

and kenny that is the correct micro compressor.. notice how they say up to though. its not a promise, you might get a slight increase but definatly not 35% increase in engine power.

so rather than all the "hahaha give my your bank account details cos your so thick" jokes why dont you just answer the question and wait for my review..

that is if any of you can actually give me the answer to the question because so far none of yuo have actually answered my question which leads me to think you dont know either.

Oh deary me...

Strangely I don't remember anything about ionising air with a small magnet from my A levels or degree.

And I think the idea of air as being an elemental thing went out with phogiston.

Seriously don't bother. I'm surprised they didn't use the word quantum anywhere.

My thoughts exactly, am pretty sure these are sold on ebay, but not as well packaged, it was basically a magnet that supposedly did all the above mentioned. Mind you they didnt say it was a magnet. And im intrested to know what a

"VRS Chip" Is, just because I would love to know how a "VRS Chip" would work on a natural aspirated engine, on the basis that all VRS or ether turbo derv or turbo petrol!

Hmm Air magnetism? I guess I must've been off school the day we had that lesson.

Seriously though, Don't you think that if these Mickey Mouse inventions actually worked that car companies might just fit them as standard equipment?

Looking forward to the in depth technical review though.....

A compressor with no wires to it, so how on earth is it powered (anyone remember conservation of energy at school). It looks like there are only magnets and like magnets for fuel lines, these things do not work at all.

PS. Do you have a 1.2, 3cylinder petrol or a 1.9 Turbo diesel vRS? The way that diesels work there are no vacuum lines on it (only a pump for the brake servo).

Oh! I think he means trial! Now I get it!

And yes, you are absolutely not an idiot. Not at all.

where are you getting these magnet things from?

im not using any of those things.

no its a 1.2 skoda fabia petrol. quite simply. i want to know what the difference between the breather hose and breather pipe is on this engine. please could someone tell me.

images would be prefereable with them hightlighd.

thanks.

Hi Nezquick,

sorry you got such an unfair feedback here. It is however, one of those wonder-kit type of things that may or may not work, often making one person a fair few quid, whilst costing many others a not too small amount each, in the off chance of something being available, hence it MUST be ok!

I really genuinely hope you fit it and find it does as you seem like the sort of person who would pan a rubbish item but triumph a good gadget. On the back of this, others (who have s******ed) may well follow your lead and fit one, depending on the outcome.

Have you thought of asking a Skoda technician for the information you need? Obviousely without telling them as they will probably give the same negative response.

Good luck with the project,

This is still hilarious :giggle:
