supagard

Featured Replies

Just been to look at my Yeti.Very excited. The dealer is supagarding it inside and out for free and I'm collecting it on Friday. I had a conversation last year (when we bought a new sofa) about how scotguarding wasn't done anymore for safety reasons and cos it can leave marks? Any feedback appreciated on how it affects the inside and outside of the car. Also I'm not too regular about carwashing - after supagarding do you have to use particular products? Will anything react to it? I'm usually a fairy liquid and hot water car washer!

Hi Charlie,

had mine treated with Autoglym Lifeshine by the dealer although not for free. Some say it's a waste of money but I've been happy with it so far and it came with a bag of after treatment products.

Regard washing a car then the use of washing up liquid should be avoided; as it's designed as a degreaser then it removes any protective waxes from the body of the car.

Would advise using a reasonable quality car wash 'n' wax shampoo (obviously Autoglym myself) and the two bucket method starting from the roof down (clean bucket of hot water with the shampoo and second bucket for just hot water for rinsing the sponge after removing the dirt from the Monster). Oh and if possible remove loose dirt with a hose pipe spray first. After cleaning rinse down again with the hose and dry with a shammy leather.

There is a section within Briskoda on car care.

Regards,

TP

Thanks

The storm blue is gorgeous but will show the dirt!

Just checked out the other forum - have posted on the supagard thread.

I had mine autoglymed too. It was a good idea and saves a bit on the regular spruce up. See if the dealer will do you a deal on it if that's what you want.

Supguard is completely useless and just a way for the salesman to male more money - a rip off.

Get some good quality polishing kit and follow the advice given here:

Not so sure about it being completely useless  I agree that its easy money for the garage - but I guess most of that is down to labour. I put it on my Honda Civic and if your after a product that reduces the need for polishing then it works well. Not everyone has to time and the inclination to use clay/polish etc - although I agree the results can be fantastic.

My Yeti is on its way to the UK as I type and I have just ordered Supagard off ebay for just short of £7 :o And this includes the fabric spray!! From past experience applying is easy. Clean car; apply polish; polish off. The key is having the car spotless before applying.

Ah - I see what you mean. OK if you buy it cheap on e-bay!

:D

if it's free, take it. then keep it topped up.

stop using fairy liquid, buy a mild shampoo

Need to read that advert carefully. Looks like one sponge and one can of fabric protector.

Not sure a Superguard impregnated sponge is going to do much to a whole car.

Thinking back to doing the Honda one sponge should do it!! The single can of fabric protector will probably be enough for the mats/carpets. I used 3 for the Honda which had fabric seats.
