Bad misfire on 1.4 16v Fabia - help!

Featured Replies

Anyone ever experienced serious misfire on skoda fabia 1.4 16v engine? It does it anywhere from about 1/3 to 2/3 throttle on acceleration only - every 2 seconds or so. It will do it at 100% W.O.T, but it is not so bad. It is like all the power is cut for half a second or so to the whole engine.

Any clues? :)

is this an ongoing prob with the car or has it just developed?

Has it not brought on the fault indicator yet? Sounds a bit like a coil, or, when last were the plugs looked at?

This car has just been purchased from an auction, so is likely to be a historical problem. Don't think it is a coil as there is lumpiness as such - It is just on acceleration there is this half second cut-out of all power to the whole engine - literally feels like it dies for half a second, then catches again.

There have been faults brought up for cam position sensor, but a new one has been fitted and it still does it. Shall keep persevering this morning. :) I am likely to be driving this car as my "courtesy car" in exchange for the Micra for a week or so, so I would personally like it working properly before I take the keys :D

Well, it looks like the fault has been found. Broken wire somewhere in the loom for the MAP sensor (found with volt meter), so this is being investigated and rectified!

Down to me to clean the beast up at the weekend now. :D
