A bit lop-sided

Featured Replies

Giving a hand today in a friends car park, when a 08 reg'd RangeRover drove in. I thought to myself, thats nice, and love the wheels.

Walked over for a closer lok when the driver had left. 275/40/20's, nice. But as i walked away, got a look at the passenger side of the car. 2 totally different wheels to the drivers side. On the front he had a 255/55/19 and the rear was 285/35/22.

Surely this cant be legal, and I would guess a dam sight dangerous to drive also

Some people should not be allowed on the roads

3 different wheel styles

Probably a pikey driver. That will sure mess up his ABS and traction control and as it's a 4WD everything else to do with his offroad capabilties is null & void. RR drivers are the new BMW X5 drivers.

You'd be surprised - couple of years ago I picked up a new to us ( ex lease from some other company) transit . Never had anything to do with ABS before ,so no bells rang .In a bit of a rush to get home( and long way to go ) ,so got it up to 70 om the motorway -when ABS lights came on -straight back to out transport group for advice and test drive -on local roads ,so it never got above 50 .Set off again - five mile down road ,ABS fail .Took it back to get road test with Ford Tech( complete with laptop) --again never got above 50 ,slight overspeed on one rear wheel -but "nothing to worry about" .By this time ,bit Peed off ,so decided to try out some ideas on way home -found that up to 60 ,all was well ,over that ABS fail .Took notes for our Ford garage -who from experience ,were better than most .Turned out I didn't need to -looking at van next day ,turned out one rear wheel was smaller ( according to our tyre depot, tyre was that fitted to smaller FWD transits ) - FITTED by the lease contractors .Lease co said fit spare .Tyre depot manager pointed out it was illegal and his duty of care to change tyre for correct size .

As for off road problems - my first car was RWD ,and on a stretch of lonely road ,middle of nowhere in inches of snow , I performed ballet on snow -180degree left ,followed ( I thought by inexperienced over correction) to 180 degree right ,then as my pants were about to fill ,back to normal .Mate following me wondered about way car was throwing up more snow from one side -hey presto -one tyre was wrong size -fitted by dealer when I bought it as tyres fitted were a bit worn .

So -possibly someone who's got done by spotty yoofs in the local motor trade .

I don't think it'll mess up the 4wd , since Rangies used to use a mechanical system with 3 lockable open diffs. I don't think it's legal though, and will fvck up the ABS and any electronic traction control, hill descent control and the like.

I dont think it's illegal....unless it interferes with safety and operation of the car.

Some people have diff sized tyres on the car but it works out to be the same size/rolling distance so it shouldn't make a difference

But 3 diff shweel styles and sizes on the same car.......thats a definate nono!!!

He probably just likes driving around the side of a mountain :giggle:

Maybe the owner was trialling different wheels to see how just how much bling his RR could take before it looks tacky
