What rims do you think looks good on a Superb?

Featured Replies

Hi

I am thinking about getting some bigger wheels for my Superb and i really cant decide what rims i should buy and what size.

I have found one set i think could look quite good on my car, TSW Holsten Chrome 19inch, but i am also thinking about getting some Vw Pheaton Replica rims.

So can some of you briskodians post pictures of what you think is a great looking rim on a Superb.

Btw, what coilover suspension would you recommend, so i can get the car down and rubbing those tires.

Best Regards

Morten

Personal preference. A lot of people (both on here and other places) will frown if you put anything other than VW/Audi/Skoda OEM designed alloys on. Don't listen to a word of it. No need to be purist about it, it's your car throw on whatever you like.

Personally I reckon alloys with thicker spokes look well. The Superb is a land-blimp and it needs substantial wheels to fill the arches, the bigger the better. I run 18''s and they're still a little too small for my liking. A chap on here runs some Bentley 20'' and they look very tidy.

i have chromes on my octavia and dislike them in a big way  as above the superb runnin bentley rims looks absolutely awesome, but its your choice so whatever you like not everyone has the same taste and will like the same things

I have a set off old RS4 wheels awaiting summer in the shed at the moment. I would post a pic but it does seem to want to work for me.

Ive got some random thinner spoke Audi rims, they are only 17" though. Give you an idea. They have definetely grown on me.

Either of your above options will work well mate and anything 5x112 and VAG will looks good, it is possible to run 20" rims by 9J without any problems on the front and rear on coliovers at it's lowest setting, I went with KW Coilovers which are pretty expensive but I have heard a lot of goos things about Wietec (same company just a cheaper brand) and also have been out in a Superb running V-Maxx coilovers which seemed pretty good..........

Here's my 19" new rs4's... Need lowering a bit.

Very swish man. Phat rims on yo' ride .... and such.

Look well on a silver motor.

Anything bigger than 20" would be good :)

Thoses RS4's looks good

Sorry mate I don't know the answer but the wheel's you have pictures are called 'Solids'..........

If the alloys are changed from 16 to 18s or 19s, do the speedo readings become incorrect?

Short Version:

Yes.

Long Version:

Yes, but speedo readings are incorrect anyhow. Manufacturers factor in roughly a 10% over-read. Going up an inch or two on wheel size should reduce the over-read and make the speedo read closer to the actual speed. It just means whereas before your speedo read 70mph, you were probably doing 63/64mph. With an inch added to the wheels you'd be doing 67/68mph. To go from 16'' to 19'' may mean your speedo begins to under-read. Of course it also depends not only on wheel size but tyre height. You can check fairly easy by looking at indicated speed on the speedo and compare it with speed given by a good GPS unit on a motorway, over a 1-2 mile distance. Crude but gives an idea.

I'm looking at recoding my instrument cluster to give accurate speedo and mpg figures. Not because I'm that bothered about it, just messing around with recoding some stuff to do with my instrument cluster at the moment .... and the fact I'm quite the sad git of course, you can't rule that out :S

No the speedo will not become (any more) incorrect, as when you change up wheel size you also go down in profile.

So a 205 55 16 (std Superb size) would need to be replaced with a 205 30 20 to keep the same speedo reading.

Hang on, zafar asked about going from 16'' to 19''. There's scope there for quite a change in reading if the profile isn't taken in consideration when sourcing these. I wasn't trying to be alarmist but if the overall circumference is altered by an inch it throws the speedo out by roughly 6%.

Very true, but if you do the job correctly and fit the correct profile then the speedo will not be altered.

Just use a tyre calculator and find a suitable tyre that's circumference is as close to what is fitted as std and you will be fine (just AVOID all the pot holes!!)

Oh yeah, switched to 18''s recently and I'm having fun dodging all of them, roads are terrible around here.

Was considering keeping the profile similar to fill the arches really. Got 55's and poss redude to 45's on 18inch alloys. I like rubber  Then play with the suspension and springs at a latter date if need be
