The elephant hose mod helps the turbo pipework, by not mixing the oil vapour returned into the system, instead exiting it elsewhere. Therefore the soot from the EGR can stay just dry soot, and not some horrible sludge that coats all the pipework inside. I did this mod after having the intercooler cleaned (had to due to tubby failure), to make the most benefit.

Okay cool. So is it worthwhile doing that then? Any other side effects from it?

Anybody else know if it's worthwhile turning down the EGR?

If it were me, I would have it turned off all together , It's not healthy to eat your own Sh!te :D Not even for cars ...

It is mainly to reduce emmissions by recycling the spent exhaust gas into the cylinder, Not as much oxygen & fuel can be ignited, It also helps with Economy (V Marginal) & internal combustion Temps, But is mainly only used on light throttle & closed when under load, SO the internal temps will only be lower when the engine is doing the least work anyhow ...
