First Service – Dealer or Garage Does it affect something?

Featured Replies

Superb 1.9 TDI PD DPF

Hi, I would like to know does it affect car warranty if the first service will be done by the garage people or by my self

And if you have receipt of oil and other things?

I mean what will be - lets say if engine fail after we change oil (the oil will be changed by the regulations of skoda recommendations long life oil and the oil filter original part from skoda)

Does it need for skoda warranty approved repair center or what?

If you can change the oil itself Does it void the warranty?

What will need to do in the first service (let say oil change, air filter, ………more)

My car will be on the clock 14000 miles

As the computer say service on about 3000 miles left.

Pease does someone know the prices for the first service in skoda dealers in sussex

Thank you

Check the wording on your warranty paperwork but on all my cars so far there's been a clause about "serviced by a VAT registered garage".

On my new cars i do everything that's not a basic service item (so i do brakes, cambelts etc. but not spark plugs, air filter, cabin filters etc.). I normally just pop them into the main dealers for the yearly service + software updates. Also that preserves any good will for future out of warranty claims.

EDIT: you can definately change the oil & filter yourself without voiding anything provided you use the right oil + a genuine filter. Some folks when they hand the car in for the yearly service, they put 4 or 5 litres of the right oil in the passenger footwell with instruction to use your oil for the oil change -- which can generally be sourced cheaper than the dealer will charge.

I think same way like you: :smirk::thumbup:

When the car new all what you are doing just chaining oil, filter etc

So basically Skoda dealer will not charge you thousand pound for that

Maybe 50-100 more expensive that garage but better for the main warranty + car sell as well As people like main dealer service history

I think as well change the brakes and other mechanical parts my self as it is easy job Just need tools and original parts.

S FINAL SAY I WILL BE CHANGING JUST OIL AND FILTER IN SKODA DELAER

AND BEFORE CAR GO TO SKODA SERVICE ALL MECHANICAL PARTS WILL BE REPLAICED BY ME SO THEY CAN CHARGE FOR WORK WICH THEY DID NOT DONE OR DON NEED TO DO
