Daddy Owners!

Featured Replies

As daddyhood is on its way (sept) I need to start putting things in place to protect the car!

For the pram with dirty wheels syndrome I'm getting a boot matt but am unsure if I should getthe Skoda one or just ebay it?

Does anyone on here put a cloth or anything under the car seat base or on the back of the seat to stop their feet from damaging it? (I have the vRS half leather jobbies).

Also any other ideas for mobile kiddie care? Best place for wipes etc? Basically the stuff the you figure out after a few months I'm trying to sort now! :S

Probably wont work though! :smirk:

Congratulations on the impending arrival. As for precautionary measures, I changed the interior to a MK4 Golf GTI one. This proved to be a good move as the seats have been subjected to vomit, muddy shoes, more vomit and a general level of abuse that would have reduced the interior to a sorry state. I guess you could do the same, but would need a suitable interior from a Mk2 Octavia, Mk5 Golf etc.

Another thing I do is ban any form of eating in the car. Some people say this is cruel, I say it's common sense. :D

I'm not replacing the interior to save it!

With regards to the boot mat, i just brought an ebay cheapie.

Not for sprogs, but i've had tons of rubble, rubbish, and all sorts of stuff. The boot mat has survived everything easily, and saved the underlying mat.

For £30, it was a bargain, and delivered next day. Have a look at ebay auction 190386935809, as thats the one i got.

You have a Daewoo Matiz headlight under your seat? :S

LOL aint got a clue what happened there but link has been amended

19 months in and I have had no child problems with the car at all to be honest! We just don't feed him anything that will cause issues in the car! The main mess is crumbs to be honest!! easily cleaned up!

Have had a Skoda boot mat in and on the back seat just put a Large Beach towel across the seat and car seats sit on top no problem,

I got hold of a couple of boot liner type things from Aldi, fits the boot nicely and occassionally a towel tpo dry the wheels prior to going into the boot. Touch wood our son has never been sick in a car yet.... But I got a protector mat to go under the car seat to prevent marking the leather etc. Sunshine Kids do a popular model.

Congratulations and best of luck for your new arrival....

I suspect the white mesh in my seats will not survive the attentions of our pending arrival - also due in September. An excuse for a leather re-trim maybe? :)

Keep a packet of "sensitive" baby wipes in the car - these don't have alcohol in them and are therefore a lot kinder to interiors.

You can get clear plastic seat back protectors from Mothercare etc - they look "ok" but do the job of keeping feet off seats. I just take the kids shoes off before they get in if they are really muddy.

Boot liner - eBay will be fine. The worse thing is pram wheels on the carpet / back of the seats.

I'd also go for a bumper protector across the top lip. Prone to scuffs regardless of how careful you are.

You'll be amazed at where dirt will end up when you've got kids though. I found some sort of mash on the roof lining the other day. Now the kid in question can't reach the headlining and he'd had dinner 2 hours beforehand. Turns out he'd dropped some mash on his trousers, which transferred to his hand between the house and the car and as I put him in his seat he reached up and spread the mash.. Thanks son...

Way past the regular baby in car -get occasional grand kid and little problems ,except for dog ,so can I suggest a dog cover for the rear seat - easily washed on top ,waterproof under - don't cost much -and designed to stop dog -so it should be kid proof .TBH -know it's decades ago since I had regular little ones in car -can't remember any problems ,other than banning crisps & chocy stuff in car .

There are 2 things that ruin Daddys car, Kids and pets, and just when you thought it was all over, Grandkids and pets.

Get a Transit van mate for the family and lock away the Skoda just for yourself.

+1 - after years of older kids and no pets ,now got young kids again - last fling I think ,plus ,now that we're alone - rehomed an older dog .me thought ( wrongly ) that an eight year old terrier would be -well old and sedate - not this one -he's an eight year old possessive pup - nothing is allowed to get within 20 yds of HIS car .
