Love my VRS 20TDi, but would like to boost power to 205bhp,

I realise this is quite a popular topic.......saw a thread about a guy on here called shark???? or was I drinking again....Am in Germany and need to give the autobahn a good hiding.

is your car the PD or DR and what year is it, as this will have a bearing on the availablility of a map.

what is the difference between PD, DR, CR etc...mine is a bog standard 2010 diesel 170 bhp vrs.

Also what the heck is DSG.

I don't even know if mine has maxi dot....it goes fast thats about it.

Prior to mid 2007, the vRS had a 170 PD (Pumpe Douse) engine.

This was replaced by the 170 CR (Common Rail) on 2007> models

As yours is a 2010 model, then it has a CR engine

DSG is the automatic twin clutch gearbox...you dont have this

If its bog standard, it doesnt have Maxidot in the UK..You may have living in Germany

May I suggest you update your user profile to include '2010' or add a signature, then others can reply appropriately

Thanks for the help guys, apart from remapping are there any more subtle changes I can make to boost power. Am moving back to the UK in October and want to make the most of the Autobahns. I'd be interested to see what mods any of you have made and how they worked out. I'm not a speed freak, but while there is no speed limit I may as well have a bit of fun. Had the speedo up to 150 last week, which I realise isn't that fast, or the true speed. Still got overtaken by a Mazda MPS tho.

i was based in germany for ages mate, enjoy the roads whilst you can, because they are shocking over here.

TBH there arn many highly modded TDI PDs let alone CR's yet. its the petrol that is the main tuning engine on the vRS

The top speed of the CR is listed as 140mph (139 for the DSG), so seeing 150 on the speedo is possible due to the error that speedos have...

Exactly right, the gps was reading 142, but it was downhill with the wind behind me, the first mod I'm going to make is a remap from shark, I'll keep you all updated on the Autobahn situation. If anyones going to tthe 'Ring let me know. I'm off their in June but not for the track...Rock am Ring!

If you have contacted Shark I'm sure you already know about the STS unit he sells. This means you dont need to physically take the car to him for a map, he can do it by sending a unit to you. A great idea if you ask me.

Except the STS unit isn't available for the CR engine...
