Tyre Pressure Monitor

TPM systems are really being intoduced for safety and also CO2 emissions - underinflated tyres use loads more fuel. I understand the direct systems (valve transmits reading to an ECU) are more accurate, but more expensive, than a simple ABS software addition.

But also easily damaged when tyres are changed from what I understand?

On the TPM on the VRS Octy it notified me when one tyre with an unknown slow puncture got down to around 26 psi (instead of the usual 32psi). Sounds weird but I also found that the car was also more able to set the alarm off if it was driven with a set speed maintained ie cruising rather than my constant stop start commute (where it never seemed to go off)?

I have TPM on my Superb and it's spotted when I change to winter wheels/tyres, which are a different size and pressure. It's not worried me at other times but then I've not had a puncture :-)

TPMS can be set and reset using VCDS, without the need for a switch. I'll dig the setup instructions out if they're not already posted on another thread.

I've use it on my Scirocco for a couple of years very successfully.
