Fabia Vrs Much Improved Power & Mpg after 1st Journey of the Day

Featured Replies

So i thought all the above was in my head but ..... I don't think it is :D

Fabia Vrs.....

Start the Car & go for a Drive (10, 20, 30 Miles), Car gets upto Temp on the Gauge & feels quite powerful, No check engine lights Etc...

Turn the car off & then go back to it a short while later, Start it up & drive off, The car now feels much more powerful/Torquey with an improved Mpg (according to the Fuel trip) The amount of throttle pedal travel required is also reduced .... You can now also see a little puff of black smoke just off/before Boost

It is almost like the Car does not register that it has got upto operatingTemperature until it has been turned off & back on Etc.....

Questions ??

Does the Fabia Vrs restrict boost or something until normal operating temperature is seen to be reached ?

If so, Is the coolant sensor used for this trigger ?

Has anybody experienced this with a Vrs & cured it ?

If so , How ..

Cheers.

Not sure about the Vrs, but have noticed this on other cars in the past. my conclusion was that when you stop heat is transferred throughout the engine. The coolant temperature can be up to normal, but lots of other parts are still cool. This seems confirmed by stopping after a few miles in cold weather, say for fuel, and then when you set off again the heater is more efficient.

Yes. I think it is definately related to Heat Soak & a sensor after it has stood a while .....

it will feel slow due to the oil not being upto temp and you'll see poorer mpg until its reached optimum temp...

my focus st had a oil temp guage and it took another 5 mins to warm up in relation to the water temp

Thing is it seems to stay like this for the whole of the 1st journey, even if it is 100 Miles Plus .....
