Rear Spoiler conundrum

Featured Replies

My fellow Octy VRS owners,

I've recently purchased a black VRS and one down point, which is more an annoyance than anything, is that the rear spolier is bowed or bent slightly towards the centre ...almost like someone sat on the jolly thing after a very hot day. Its barely noticable...infact most don't notice until I point it out. My question(s) to you is:-

a) Would you leave it as is and save your money and hope most people will think is supposed to be like that (and be permanently annoyed by it)

or

B) Pay £75 for a second hand one that is straight?

Baring in mind with option B) I think I saw a thread in here somewhere regarding the difficulties of removing said spoilers? If anyone can shed any light on this I would be very grateful indeed.

Any thoughts? Jez.

Personally I would change it, as if you know it's there that is bad enough. It will always plague your conscience knowing car is not perfect.

Regards to removing not to difficult, Did mine last week as I was testing fitment of a WRC one.

It is held in place with 4 allen bolts and some sticky foam.

All you need to do is remove the 4 allen bolts, then tip hot water around the rear spoiler area that is fixed to the boot. Carefully pull up the area and it will come away.

Do same with other side

Made me feel guilty now :giggle:

But trust me if you are like me that would bug me till I replaced it.

I may have a spare one going when I fit my WRC replica spoiler.

So would I

I have spent the last week in the evenings getting the prep work done on it as the spoiler was dreadful finish. Happy now just need to get it sprayed somewhere.

I did remove my spoiler and just rest the WRC on car so this will give you a idea. The Spoiler does not look a bad finnish in the pics as was also silver

but it was not good at all looked hand painted and some bad filling.
