Bush confusion!

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Going to be getting a RARB and other bits fitted and I thought I might as well get all the bushes changed as I've heard this can tighten everything up.

I don't want to sound like a numpty, which means I sound like a numpty, but can someone list me the bushes required for the Fab VRS please and what it will do to the car?

Cheers.

Scott.

have a look at the Powerflex website they have a pretty good diagram on there which shows which bushes are what - I don't know if they're selling their products again though since the factory burnt down???

Hi Scott,

I think most on here would agree that the seat leon cupra console bushes seem to last the longest.

Part no. - 6LL 407 183 in any SEAT dealers. Think they are about a tenner each.

As for the front arm bushes which dont tend to fail that often, I would go with the standard ones available from any skoda dealers. Some guys insist on powerflex bushes which are meant to be stronger but give the car a rougher ride. If someone has the part no on here for these you could make up your own mind.

As mentioned in the above guide, if you want to upgrade the worn bushes, replace all of them with polyurethane ones from Powerflex except the large wishbone 'Console' bushes as Powerflex only make an Insert for it. This is normally replaced by a solid SEAT Cupra one.

Part number is PFF85-601 for the front bushes according to website.

Skoda have released an uprated console bush for the Fabia 1. It is still a voided bush, but has 4 section arms rather than the previous two. These should last well and it avoids the harsher ride associated with the solid Cupra bush.

the cupra bush gives a harsher ride?

i didn't realise this. I was going to get the cupra bushes but now thinking otherwise.

Anyone know part number for the new "4spoke" OEM fabia console bushes?

I have never known anyone comment on a harsher ride?

I have had them on my car and absolutely no way was there any harsher ride

The Fabia`s come in with 20k on thier back and they need wishbone bushes? rubbish

Skoda knew this , so they have superceeded the bushes? that means they know there is an issue and it has taken them 10 years to do it

But then the Cupra bushes come in

No it is not harsher , and as has been said , maybe just replace the front ones with OEM

I spoke to my local skoda parts dept about this and they said "better late than never" lol

I would still go for the cupra bushes tho. Going by what Sarah and everyone who has them say, they are very durable. comparing the pictures of the cupra/audi bushes to the 2 spoke voided skoda one, you can tell the cupra one is just so much beefier.

Thanks.

Just as aside, my car ('06 1.4TDi) has these 4 spoke bushes fitted. Not sure if they were original or if they've been replaced by the previous owner, but the cars just clicked over 61k miles and the drivers side one has broken so they don't seem to be any better than the 2 spokes. Just the outer arm of mine has broken down but it's squeaking and clunking like a good'un.
