Pressure Washer Question

Featured Replies

Ok, time for Steve's dumb question of the day:

Seems everywhere are currently doing specials on pressure washers, and you guy use them a lot on here.

However, I also know that my Oldies use one to clean the flagstones and it pretty much peals the top layer off the stone.

Hmm, concrete -> car paint.....

I don't own one myself so don't know if theres a "Fluffy setting for beloved car" and "Hardcore" type settings.

Whats the craic?

Plus is it going to disagree with my paint protection (Diamondbrite) coating?

Ta,

Steve

I have a karcher and its variable pressure but I always use it on full pelt! Its fine as long as you dont get too close to the paintwork - You'll know as soon as you come to use it!

If you want to do slabs etc then definately get the patio tool as this causes hardly any mess.

There are lances called dirt blaster and similar.

These create really high pressure. Whatever you do, DO NOT use one of these things on your car, as you will remove paintwork with them.

The 'craic' is that you need one in your life............... :thumbup:

There are some do's and don't with them like holding them too close to the paintwork can damage the paintwork by adding scratches, etc but they are pretty safe things really, would be lost without mine that's for sure.......... :o

As for effecting your Diamonbrite finish, no worries there............... :no:

Ok, with my slightly cynical head on.... :)

What major advantage am I going to get using a pressure washer as opposed to my hose Mk1 with "jet" attachment head?

1) Range of attachments - Lances, Foam Lances, House hold cleaning lances, etc;

2) Option to add cleaning agent to the washer;

3) Varied pressure for stubborn areas such as wheel arches, etc;

4) Improved cleaning ability with power of jet;

5) More accurate control of water to a specific area on the car or garden, etc;

6) Making some noise to keep the neighbours on their toes............. :D

Nah, you will see loads of people adopting the same procedure over on DW, makes it much easier to access that stubborn dirt in those hard to each areas............all the small details and all that make a big difference to the overall result........... :thumbup:
