Has anyone bought their snow monster via AutoFinders.co.uk ?? They are offering me a superb discount way more than any dealer, but I have reservations about using web based companies having never done it before ??

I used www.drivethedeal.com and they were fantastic. No problems and your dealings with them stop about 2 days in when they put you in contact with a real dealer.

Haven't used Autofinders but I too used DrivetheDeal and they put me in touch with a West London Skoda dealer from whom I got £2.2k discount on a Yeti CR140 SE 4x4 with a few extras. I got three other quotes from Skoda dealers for the same spec but they couldn't or wouldn't come close. It was a straight cash purchase, £500.00 deposit by credit card and the rest I will pay on the day of pick up. Beware of deals that will not release the V5 document to you until some months after purchase as although not illegal it is frowned upon by the DVLA, some insurance companies and others it also made me feel a little insecure.

There is also at the moment the £2500 off deal on the Yeti as their new "scrappage" deal. IF your current car is older than 7 years.

Tried Autofinders, and Drive the Deal, but they could only find one dealer within 80 miles who was willing to take an order, and even then the delivery cost was rediculous. 20 weeks was the quoted delivery time from both.

My local dealer (in Eccles, M/cr) did me what turned out to be an acceptable deal on a pre-reg showroom 1.8 TSI Elegance with 24 miles on the clock, delivery in just 10 days including fitting towbar.

Bear in mind that by going through an on-line discount house you may not get the legendary Skoda after sales service that you would get by buying from a local dealer. And if something goes wrong after your warranty expires, you may be on your own!

I want to keep my monster for 5 or 6 years (maybe longer), so the after sales side of things is very important to me and is worth the slightly higher price up front.

Rubbish! DtD et al only put you in contact with a bona fide Skoda dealer. From then on you are doing the deal as if you went to the dealer yourself. And you can service your car at ANY Skoda dealer just like if you had walked into your local dealer and bought it there. These days you can even service your car or get warranty issues sorted anywhere in Europe so there is really no reason to take your car back to the supplying dealer.

To get the savings DtD were showing I really did not mind travelling anywhere in the country to pick the car up. Seriously the cost of a train ticket is what is swaying you to not go for the saving?!?! As it happens the supplying dealer is not even 10 miles from where I live so all is well. And believe me I won't go that far to service it or get any warranty issues done. It will go to the closest dealer to my house which is 3 miles away.

I used DtD and I will have to drive 80+ miles to pick up the vehicle but for a £2,200 saving who wouldn't. I get 3 years or 60k warranty, 3 years RAC cover, 12months tax so the warranty and add on deal is precisely the same as any Skoda dealership offers, this is because it is a very large Skoda UK main dealer anyway hence their ability to offer the discount one would imagine.

Sorry you don't aprove of my comment, but Rubbish is a bit strong!

Both (unconnected) Manchester dealers that I visited said that they do not gve the same after sales service to Internet buyers as they do to their own customers. No free courtesy car when in for service, only minimal long term attention etc. Now, I know that this may have been sales talk to frighten me into buying direct from the local dealer, but I couldn't help feel that there was something in what they were saying. As I got over £2k off anyway, plus free mats/flaps/towbar, the extra saving by going via a broker wasn't significant, so I was happy with the deal I got. Had the difference been substantially more, my decision may have been in favour of the broker.

Having said all that, as it turned out, there are several problems with the car (all PDI related), and the dealer is not being terribly quick sorting them out. So, maybe, the service that I'd have got from a deal placed via a broker would have been no worse than I'm currently experiencing. If only everything in life was simple ! :(

Nothing in life is ever simple alas. But then imagine if it was?! How boring would that have been?!

But my point still stands. I'm not "an internet customer". I'm buying my Yeti direct from a dealer after having secured a better deal online. The spin the dealer gave you was just that, spin to pressure you into a sale I'm sorry to say. But he gave a decent discount so no harm done.

Picked YETI SE in black magic yesterday from autofinders in Chesterfield - Good deal and completely glitch free including part exchange on the Fabia.

The car was delivered to them by transporter from Claybank in Eccles which is ironic because it is much closer to home than Chesterfield!

Nice people to deal with too - would highly recommend.

Hi One Small Step

How long did tit take to get your log book from Autofinders?

Regards Peasant

I used autofinders and, although the ordering process was very straightforward, the lack of communication from them since the order was confirmed was (and still is) a huge concern to me. I managed to track down the supplying dealer, who reassured me that everything was above board, but the whole "you can check the progress of your order online" thing is virtually useless. My Yeti is apparently being built in week 47 and I might get it before Xmas, but whenever I contact autofinders to see if there's been any change, I'm made to feel as though I'm bothering them.

If you do go ahead and order from them, be prepared to hear nothing for months on end. It's a worry, but that's clearly how they operate. Having said that, I'm on course to save over £2,600........

Thankfully with DtD your dealings with them stop about 1 day after you clicked on their website and the supplying dealer paid them their commission. EVERYTHING is done through the Skoda dealer. Real peace of mind I have to say. I have a proper SUK order number and I can phone SUK or the dealer to update me at any time.

I looked at DtD when I was hunting for mine, but I wasn't very impressed with their response to my enquiry , either in terms of time to respond or with the attention generally. They didn't seem to care too much whether I ordered or not.

I did and they were brilliant , I received my car within 4 weeks , at around 2,800 pounds below list price . They delivered the car at my request .I can only speak as I found , I would have no hesitation about using them for future purchases. As for follow up care there are 3 skoda dealers close by , I have the ability to choose any one of them , if they do not give a good service I will go elsewhere , I suspect the rivalry is such they will want the business . The main reason for me is that they had the cars available at the time , if you had a long wait then it is purely down to the cash saving .

I have ordered my wife's Yeti through Autofinders. They gave the largest discount when I ordered and they have kept me up to date throughout. I have received 3 updates since the end of September.

That's just salesmans talk!

Just had our internet sourced Yeti serviced by one of the two Manchester dealers and got a courtesy car, had the car washed and vacumed, etc. No difference in service whatsoever.

They all want the servicing and warranty business as that often contributes more to company profits than the sale of cars.

Just picked up my Yeti 140 Elegance from AutoFinders in Chesterfield and thought people may be interested in my experience ( pretty positive ). Ordered the car back in early May ( spare wheel, mats, tow bar prep ) and it arrived late October! ( is this the longest wait so far? ). I wasn't in a rush so it didn't bother me too much but it does seem like a long time. Not sure if you could ask before you get it who the supplying delear is, I never did. Only option that came in after I ordered that I would have liked was the heated screen.

As with other internet supplier, the Email/Web based updates were few and far between but the staff responded very promptly to all Email and calls and were always very friendly and helpful. I arranged to pick up the car ( on a rainy day from their tiny and slightly off putting premises ) rather than have it delivered and it had been chamoised down by there valeter so I could check it over. Everything was as ordered and I was calmly assured that I could take as much time as I like to check it before paying the bill ( you don't pay till you pick up the car ). They went through the keys and the handbook as a dealer would and they also gave me the weeks free Insurance.

All in all a very positive experience and at £2900 under list, worth the wait.

Well done! Enjoy the car.

And longest wait? Nope. I ordered mine on April 6th, it gets built only next week and I take delivery in December. THAT is a long wait.

Thanks. Makes me feel better that I didn't suffer unduly by going via the internet. I'm sure I will enjoy. Now for those snow tyres!!

I wouldn't bother! Now excuse me while I go and put my armour and hard hat on!

I also bought a Yeti from Autofinders in July 2010, my experience was similar, good price, pay on collection, web updates few and far between. However V5 has never appeared and repeated enquiries are ignored or fobbed off

Haven't they gone bust?

Hmmm... I can't recommend Drivethedeal enough. You deal with a real dealer and get your V5 exactly as if you were a retail customer. No funny business like this lot.
