Superb II - LED Front DRL's

Featured Replies

Has anyone considered changing the DRL bulb in the Superb for an LED bulb? does anyone know 100% what bulb type is used for the DRL?

I personally think these look great but ....

have other drivers experienced being flashed by other road users who fail to realise these are DRL's and not us driving around in summer with fog lights on ??

it happens to me quite regularily ...

Also I am aware of several people that have been stopped and fined for driving (particularily in Liverpool) with fog lights on, have any drivers here had to have discussions with Officers of the Law regarding the DRL's being in the fog light cluster ?

In Spain one officer pulled me over and told me o turn off the fog lamps :dull:

I got out off the car to see :giggle: Told him it´s DRL and turned the real fog lights on.

He :o and sent me away :rofl::rofl:

Hmmm,

I have an Octavia Scout. There was talk on the Octavia forum a few months ago that there is now a factory option to replace the standard halogen front fogs and replace them with LED DRL's in leiu of the fogs. They are as your picture (which I think is for the Scout), four LED's behind the same round glass lense that fit into the same bumper apperture.

I already mentioned the face lift Octavia vRS - they have a strip of LED's above and seperated from the fog light. FL (non vRS) Octavia's use the same set-up as the Superb, next to the front fog - but halogens not LED's.

I've yet to see or read of DRL's for the Fabia, halogen or LED?

Again, I've not seen or heard of any LED options for the Superb (other than the wing mirror repeaters and Far Eastern rear light clusters)?

So again, I'm quite sure the Octavia vRS is the only Skoda on sale in the UK with LED DRL's, I'd be interested to know if this has changed and if they are now available on the Superb...

I can confirm the MY2011 Scout has DRLs as an option, mounted in the lower part of the bumper in place of fogs. See this thread for details.

alberg,

Have you retro-fitted those LED bulds in to your DRL's or is that how they come now from new?

Looking at the new LED DRL's on recent Skoda's (Octavia Scout and Fabia vRS) they use a 4x LED set-up...

I have retro-fitted them, they are actually normal 21w led bulbs . It does show on maxidot to verify lamp.

I´am awaiting for ones with CAN-BUS system, just don´t know if they are like the ones on foto or some other type of leds.

They look cool don´t they.

I have a 2009 Superb II without the extra bulbs in the fog lights. When I select daytime running lights option on the computer, it puts the dipped beam bulb on.

Does anyone know if it's possible, to say, replace the existing fog lights I have, for the later ones with two bulbs, and get the computer to select those as the daytime running lights as opposed to the dipped beam?

I'm interested in that too! Anyone done that?

There many more recent threads on this subject than this 2 1/2 year old one.

Just bought a set now, looking forward to ditching the yellow filaments.

You just need to do the parking light bulbs now...!

Are the led fogs as bright as the incandescent bulbs, and do they throw out the same light pattern? Just wonder what they would be like in actual fog.

Got any pics of the rear LEDs, and a guide on how you did them?

Sorry, I misunderstood: thought you'd used LED bulbs in existing rear light cluster. My mistake!

I could only get one of my sidelights out when I tried - anyone else had any trouble removing them? Got to the point where I thought it would end up with damage, so reluctantly gave up.

The sidelight bulbs are real tight, I just pulled them out using the wires for grip and I never broke anything.

Those DRL adapters look professional, can't read Polish though!

Top right of the page (on Safari at least) you can change the language & currency:

Built-in CANBUS cheating, 6xSMD 5630 (Epistar) + lens. Color white, about 4700K Built-in heat sink refrigerated leds. Automatic detection of polarity. 4 LEDs on the circumference of the bulb, 2 LEDs on the front of the bulb in the lens. Used 5630 SMD LEDs are characterized by a yield of 30-50 lm / SMD

Thanks Gizmo but it was the black inline resistor adapters I was keen on.

Got some LEDs but get constant errors on MY11.
