Got tailgated by one of these yesterday leaving Cambridge, over the Gog Magog hills, MY WORD i have NEVER seen a 2.5 ton lump of metal accelerate SO fast. The cloud of black smoke behind it was...well alot, but my do those things shift! Made a vague attempt to keep up with it (in my 1.4 8v )

when it was getting passed 110mph...and the tourag was STILL moving like a thunderbolt...it was a bit of a lost cause. Must have been doing 150mph EASILY (it vanished...completely out of sight in about 5 seconds)

Never known such a fast 'SUV'

Why VW don't put that engine in a few more of their 'normal' cars or atleast a stripped down lightweight one i don't know, its amazing!

They're fast enough in standard form, with a mountain of torque, so if this one had been remapped (the loads of black smoke suggests this) it would fly.

I would think that about 5 seconds to 60 for a remapped one would be about right - and an indication of the motorway potential !

Went in 1 @ the Birmingham motorshow, the engine is phenominal

The only other vehicle that has it is the VW Pheaton IIRC.

In fact the engine sucks. There are lots of problems with the W10-engine and they need repair times and again. Here in Denmark we see a lot registrated as vans and you will find a lot of them for sale when then come close to the end of the warranty. The turbo cause problems but also the gearbox which can't handle 750nm. Thats also the reason why you do not a lot of companies making tuningchips for the car.

VW openly says it had to de-tune the engine for the sake of the chassis/gearbox, but i know a guy who wprks at a press type place that has to put a minimum amount of miles on certain vehicles and every single toureg has gone back with transmission problems because they are too powerfull for the box's

The diesel isnt a W engine, it is a 5.0 'V' PD.

The petrol W is 6.0 litres and not availalble over here in the Touraeg configuration as yet, its soon to be put in the new Touraeg Sport though.
