I have seen similar problems to the one I am having described in these forums but I have not managed to find the definitive answers.

I apologise in advance if this problem has been over -aired but I am struggling with a cause/fix.

I have a 2006 Octavia 2.0 Tdi 103Kw diesel. Manual 6 speed gearbox. It has done 97000 miles, Within the last 20000 miles it has started hesitating/stuttering when accelerating in 3rd gear through around 3500 revs and in 4th gear at around 3000 to 3500 revs. It does not manifest itself in 1st or 2nd gears but I feel sire it is not a gearbox problem. Also, it does not happen every single time!

No faults show up in electronic diagnistics (according to my dealer) but they suggested it might be the Air Flow Meter (or Mass Air Flow meter). So I replaced it with a new one (same Bosch model/part no.) and replaced the air filter, but no difference - neither worse nor better.

Any other ideas from my fellow forumites?

My fiancee who drives the car most of the time does not see the problem because she drives more gently than me and never gets to 3500 revs.

Thanks in advance for any glimmer of a solution you can suggest.

I had an issue with a "miss" now and again when accelerating a couple of years ago, often when there were passengers in the car. When the car was serviced with fuel filter change, the problem disappeared.

Thanks, I'll try that today.

Changed the fuel filter, still no good, any other thoughts?
