PD160 fitment lies.

Featured Replies

Just fitted the PD160 air intake to my vRS just to see what all the fuss is about and i think i need to make an official complaint.

It quite clearly states in many of the guides that this is a "no more than 15 minute" job! 15 minutes my @rse!!! Where on earth in these "so called guides" do they allow time for slicing your finger open and bleeding into the engine compartment, stabbing yourself in the knuckles with a screwdriver, stepping backwards and catching the edge of your shin on your metal toolbox, maybe a little crying for a few minutes and then spending about 15 minutes trying to find the goddamn screw that you dropped somwhere down the goddamn side of the engine. I meen, who the heck to these "guide writers" think they are, eh??

Oh, and it cost me £87.61 (Frosts, Haywards Heath) for the privilege of now knowing where the hell we keep the plasters in my house !!!

hehe indeed! I feel your pain - Splitter guide said 1 hour... HA more like 4 ! emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

At least at the end of it all you get the satisfaction of a job well done. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

:giggle::thumbup: thank you for cheering us all up

But you missed out the main bit

Did you get the benifit , no not of finding out where the platers are in your house

But if it does the job?

Sarah

yeah my pd160 has arrived at nearly 90 quid!!! Thanks for the post cant wait to get started!

Have you noticed any difference with the PD160 upgrade?

I'm thinking of doing this when I have my vRS mapped and RARB'd at Awesome in June...can't wait!

You should fit it BEFORE your remap for max results emoticon-0148-yes.gif

£90

£90

A little over-prices indeed. It used to be cheaper

For some people (including me) the beifits are worth it.

I'm guessing u have the standard pipe? :p

lol, sod paying £90 for a plastic pipe though, just spent £3.50 on the pikey arch mod and that mad a hell of a difference.

How ham-fisted are you?! Bad times though, I've abused my fingers and knuckles in garages and engine compartments plenty of times.

I fitted mine in a B&Q car park, in the peeing rain, in no more than 10 minutes :S

I'm guessing u have the standard pipe? :p

You guess wrong :)

But I didn't pay anywhere near that, nor would I. I'd make do with a slightly sooty remap and spend the £90 on something worthwhile.

Yeh neither did I - think I paid around £30-£40 when I fitted one to my Fabia 2.0l. The vRS came with one :)

I agree that £90 is over-priced for what it is and is a blatant example of Seat cashing in.

Second hand PD160. £20

1no 8mm x 300mm cable tie. £0.20p

Time to fit 20 mins. (including changing the intake sleeve for an new one.)

The feeling I get when I see you lot getting spanked for £90

Priceless.....

(Previous owner had cut the water deflector from the cars original intake sleeve BTW)

And I like puddles :D

Yep, nearly 90 quid is a lot for what is in essence a plastic pipe !!! Joking aside, and apart from the personal injuries, i have only done about 10 miles since fitting. My main aim was to reduce the smoke you see when you accelerate. If i can achieve less smoke then for me i think the cost was worth it. I am also hoping to get a Shark re-map sometime soon so just getting the car ready

Hi

Well roll in you guys

Mine cost £10 LOL

Sarah

Could you not just use some large hosing of some sort? Like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COLD-AIR-FEED-BRAKE-DUCTING-TUBING-2-1-2-63MM-1-METRE_W0QQitemZ270490302073QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item3efa7a7679 or the kinda stuff used for venting tumble dryers?

Yeh, but it would look terrible! The Seat pipe looks very much OEM, apart from the zip-tie needed to hold it neatly together. I presume the Ibiza has the same problem...

Sarah, mine me cost £5* Beat that! :giggle:

* It didn't really

Right im sure there are hints all over the place but my pd160 air intake has arrived any helpfull tips on how to fit it, and yes ive seen the guide but just wondering if any of you have thought i wish i did this insted ect ect, or am i going to suck it up and just do it!!!

I've had a similar issue today with the pikey mod vent.........

'simply take the mud guard off'...........30mins to find all the frigging screws?? :dull:

hindsight would be jacking it up and taking off the wheel first.......

I also tried a diy method of the pd160 today too using from 5" alu ducting, (didnt go so well....................... my hands r to big to fiddle in that tiny space) so reverted back to normal :D

Apart from being incompetent I really don't grasp what you are trying to say. The 'so called guide' is there as a guide only.

I do find it odd how I managed to complete this in under 15 minutes complete with both hands, legs and head..... I thought it was rather nice that a member spent time and effort making a guide for other members to use.

Perhaps you should leave future mods to a garage? I would hate for a 'Briskoda guide' to be held responsible for a death or car looking like this:

Had a rare sense of humor failure rob?

Or just having a bad day, i can't work on a car without ending up bleeding, and my pd 160 intake was £35 coplete with a free forge strut brace!!!!!!!
