Thinking of new brakes?

Featured Replies

Getting a new remap and other bits and pieces but just wondering about getting better disks, not really up for modding brakes or conversions as i have no idea what the hell to do. What i am after are good looking, good performance brakes without having to sell my house, any ideas, or any thing i should avoid? Links or pics would be useful.

yeah seems good got to wait for next pay though. this week has brought the remap, cat back exhaust, pd160 air intake, and pipercross filter, the missus is going to kill me!!!

There are many threads on this subject and I know I've replied to some of them, so use the search.

I would buy Mintex or Ferodo pads or the OEM stuff (which I think is made by Pagid). I use EBC Greans on my vRS with no problems, but a lot of people on here don't like them, so choose the Red or Yellow stuff if you do trackdays etc. Greens will be OK on a non vRS. DS2500 are probably very good, but at £100+ a set they are very expansive (EBC Greens are £60 ish) and I'm not sure if they are road legal as they don't comply with Reg 90 (it was discussed in the Octy section a month ago).

As for discs, don't bother with drilled ones as they are prone to cracking. Grooved and Dimpled ones are the way to go, however heavily grooved ones can be noisy, so slotted ones are the best.

cheers for the help

z2, mintex have always been win for me (though not on the vRS as I haven't got round to changing them yet, but on my previous car)

Was looking at the exhaust , and then I saw the brkes

So done them , not bad so far

But will let you know when i have fitted them

is fitting ok on these?

fitting as in ease of fitting? like anything if you know then yes its easy...its straightforward if you are mechanically able and you have the correct tools etc...

best brake brands are brembo, ferodo and ebc and tarox in my opinion (the ones that dont break the bank anyway)

stay clear of drilled but stick with grooved (20 groves max) alongside some uprated pads and your quids in!
