Cant decide on vrs option - help!

Featured Replies

I have ordered a vrs petrol with the following options

Race blue metallic

front parking sensors

rear parking sensors

boot net

rear sun blinds

maxidot

leather

heated seats

spare wheel

I didnt go for sat nav (I live in N Ireland and know my way around), xenons (cant justify the money for them as most of the driving will be during daylight hours) and the package which give you auto dim mirror, rain sensing wipers and light assit £131).

My car is due for build week 20 and I could add the £131 package without delaying the build.

My question to you is it worth the £131?

i've just ordered a VRS petrol estate. I went for

silver (boring but best for resale)

leather (cos the standard seats look like a chav designed them)

silver roof rails (a bit of colour coordination)

sunset glass ( cos it looks good on our CRV)

rear parking sensors (for the mrs)

curtain airbags (for the kids)

maxidot (like a bit of technology and I might implement bluetooth and/or satnav at a later date)

spare wheel (assessing a risk factor methinks)

personally I've had a few cars with auto light/auto wipers etc and I've come to the conclusion I'd rather be in control and of these devices myself!!! :giggle:

when is week 20 and when did you order? I've been told I might not get it until September!!!!!

week 20 is week starting 17th May - I ordered it about 3 weeks ago. I work in a Skoda dealership.

Personally I'd have them. My previous Peugeots had the auto wipers and got it right 90% of the time. The Skoda gets it right about 80% of the time.

I love the auto dimming mirror. I can never get on with conventional dipped mirrors - I prefer to see clearly what's behind me, the dipped function makes things very dark and I still see the undimmed image as well, so it's very confusing and I just drive with it undipped and put up with the glare. The auto dim however is perfect for me and still gives a clear view but no glare, definitely worth having.

Not sure about auto lights as I don't have that - depends whether the coming home/leaving lights would be useful based on where you park. I'm quite capable of turning the side and headlights on myself so would prefer to retain control of that. I'm about to order a new Octy Elegance, but won't be paying the £55 extra for the light assistant - not worth it to me. I would have your package though at £131 just for the mirror and the auto wipers.

PS - can't see why they don't include curtain air bags as standard - very poor.

neal - Personally, I'd say dump the front parking sensors to save some cash and improve the look of the front of the car slightly. I would definitely get the auto-dimming rear view mirror and tunnel lights. The mirror is so much better quality than the standard one. Looks smarter too.

wega3k - I am driving a black Superb 170CR SE right now with front parking sensors and I cant say they spoil the look for the car or that they really stand out that much. I am so tempted to add the auto dim mirror etc

Do it!

blimey do you get special privileges!? or is it just estate production that is on a go slow!? :S

good point - smooth is best! :p

Drop the front sensors - reasons already stated

Drop the rear blinds - Not really required, Was going to say side custom fit blinds but just seen you have included sunset glass

Yes to the auto dim mirror etc, I will never buy a car without it.

As for the other things you mentioned - sat nav buy a Tom Tom (I have bought a 750GO), xenons look good but I will just change the standard bulbs to +80%/+100% bulbs (cheaper)

no special prilileges unfortunately - I did ask lol

Yes go for the auto lights, mirror and wipers. The mirror dims progressively depending on the glare from behind.

Had them on my last car, Focus ST, hence why I ordered them on the VRs.

One item I order but have never used yet is the rear sunblind, do not know why I got it!!!

I went for the rear sun blinds as I have a 3 month old baby and thought they would look better than aftermarket ones.

I have the rear sunblind, I'm not surprised you haven't used it yet, it's not exactly summer yet :)

Do you think the rear sunblinds are good?

Do you think the rear sunblinds are good?

I have the rear roller factory fitted blind and also the official Skoda mesh sidewindow blinds.

I leave the rear roller up all the time and find it helps as I don't get distracting reflections in mirror. But when I want to see what's behind me, I can see through the roller blind mesh via the rear view mirror easy enough. The rear side window blinds are excellent, they also make the car look like it has privacy glass.

So yes, I think they're good, and not a very expensive option - and they're removable.

Just added auto dim mirror, rain sensing wipers and light assist to my order - still build week 20

Couldnt decide what to spec on mine so just went for everything instead. (apart from full leather)

I also went for all the options other than sat nav, sunroof and xenons

The rain sensor is also handy for the irish summer!!

if you leave the windows open the sensor will close em if it starts to rain

I've yet to see the sunset glass? Is it a standard tint? Any pics?

Hello all, first post. Haven't got round to introducing myself yet, but will do so asap.

Just speccing a petrol vRS estate in silver and this thread has got me thinking

Can't decide between standard or silver roof rails. With any other colour, I'd get the silver rails, but I'm not sure if they'd look right on a silver car?

Any thoughts or pics would be much appreciated!

BTW, coming to Skoda from a Mk 5 Golf GTI DSG. Got fed up with VW quality issues and terrible dealer service!

Cheers, dunc69
