1.8 TSI Remap

Featured Replies

I have a 2008 Octy 1.8TSI L&K and was thinking about having a stage 1 remap but can only find info on the 2.0VRS. Has anyone had their 1.8TSI remapped and who with.

Mine is quick but I fancy the extra torque.

I live in Essex and AMD will do me a REVO for £499+vat but i was also looking at Shark's STS.

Any opinions happily received.

You don't state whether you've got a manual 1,8 TSi or a 7 spd DSG TSi.

If you've got the 7 spd DSG, I think there's a limit on how much power you can actually put through it, without damaging it.

I've got the manual gearbox.

I had my FL 2.0 TSI mapped at AMD. I went for their own AMD map rather than the Revo as it included rolling road set up (not sure if AMD have their own map 1.8TSI )

I was impressed with the service though it did take twice as long as the couple of hours quoted to carry out the map tho they do have a waiting room with comfy seats

and a TV that did not work.

The results for me were well worth the wait, torque is fantastic.

FYI A lot of mainstream insurers now do insurance and you can get quotes on that annoying go compare site. Im insured via RAC who beat supposed specialists by over £180.00

It appears to be missing from our website (I'll fix that tomorrow) but we do offer a map for it and the STS supports the 1.8TSI too emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I decided to go with Shark Performance and their STS unit. Wow, what a difference. There is only a little difference under 2000 rpm but it's smoother and very easy to drive. Over 2000 rpm there is a large increase in power all the way to the 6500 redline. It's very smooth the way the power come in so grip is no problem. Acceleration times have improved greatly:

30-50 in 3rd now 3.0 secs (was 3.8)

30-70 through gears now 5.5 secs (was 7.2)

The map has only been in half an hour so the ECU needs time to relearn the optimum values.

Worth every penny. Thanks Ben.

Just a small point, don't forget to tell your insurance company that you've done it, otherwise if you have an accident you may find yourself uninsured.

I totally agree. I paid just over £100 more for my insurance paying just over £400 for the year fully comp with protected NCB and legal cover as well. Not bad really for the extra performance.

Just ordered mine from Shark Performance, heres hoping that my ECU isn't one of the protected ones.
