Seatbelt buckle

Featured Replies

Am I the only one who finds that the constant tapping (caused by our poor road sufaces here), from the front passenger seatbelt buckle as knocks against the hard plastic of the pillar, irritating? (obviously when there is no front passenger in the car - but then there's the constant background noise of "aren't you going a bit fast" and "mind that pedestrian" - but that's another thread entirely emoticon-0105-wink.gif )

I shall be sticking some sort of damping (maybe the soft half of some velcro) on the small section of pillar where it makes contact unless anyone has any other suggestions or tips?

In regard to the other "irritation" I find this helps My link

On my Leon there is a holder against the pillar where can put the passenger seat belt whilst not in use. Surely this is on the Octavia?

Unfortunately not - unless I'm missing something? I wonder if I can find a Leon one and stick / screw it on.

This Annoys the hell outa me too.... :smirk:

so will be interesting to see what others have done to remedy the problem

i was going to put a bit of sticky foam where it rests against the pillar should deaden the thud.

I had a golf hire car and noticed the seatbelts in that have a tab sown on the belt which stops it happening

basically hangs over the buckle and stops it hitting the pillar

I just move the adjustment to its highest setting and that cures the problem for me as it moves the clip just out of reach from the pillar. My old Leon did the same thing.

Unfortunately, I have a different kind of rattle in my car on the driver side seat beat hight adjuster in that when its NOT on its lowest setting, all I can hear is a mettalic springy type rattle. As its right next to my ear, its the most annoying thing ever on a short journey to work. Even though the dealer is only 15 minutes away, I still cannot find time to get it checked.

Used your suggested fix to remedy the problem in my previous volvo c30 - worked fine. Not experienced the issue so far with the Octavia.

Sarge.

I don't experience this problem on my car!

I think I get it occasionally. My old Clio had a magnet fitted on the pillar to hold it. I might try that trick.

shouldn't need anything that strong.

Not got my Skoda yet - driving the missus' car.. but I too have experienced that annoyance.. usually it's "you're a bit close to that other car", particularly when braking at lights / roundabout.. Of course I'm close.. I'm stopping..

This is why my car is on order - and the sooner, the better.. TBH - a seat belt knocking is more preferable..

Thanks for the replies guys. I shall try putting the seatbelt adjustment to its highest setting to see if that cures otherwise i'll try the velcro thing.

In regard to the other point, I've found that if you continually throw money at the cause of the noise in the form of shoes / handbags / flowers this sometimes reduces the noise but is usually cheaper to buy and run another car :giggle:
