Featured Replies

hey everyone great site, well am brand new still in my wrapper when it comes to fabia vrs , never even considererd one or even looked into there history or following.

but already having never driven one or even looked around i seemed hooked already,

are these cars as much fun as everyone says ? have they got geniue day to day reliability in town driving mostly and some motorway about 12 k a year , are these cars still made in the czech rep and are the parts vw mainily ?

and finally you probably all bored of hearing the same old same old from newbies lol

is there any thing to look out for when buying theses cars, am looking at a 2005 vrs 38000 2 owner tonight looks very geniue standard car with history no mods 5300£ is that ok for a good car ?

oh best place for insurance seems like these are only 50 cheaper then my 2.8 vr6 ,which was group 17 18

thk thks thks Tony

The insurance quotes you have should be a lot less than -£50 as they are only group 9.

The VRS you are proposing to buy is about the right price with that low mileage. It's best to look at a couple of others for comparison, and drive them of course. There is usually a few for sale on this forum and should be cared for by Briskoda enthusiasts. All important is the service history, using the correct oil regularly and cam belt change if over 4 years old.

I was in your shoes just two weeks ago

Im only 19 and i love the vrs its got all the room i need for things for my job while being fast, fun and reasonably cheap on insurance. Its also cheap on fuel and tax and will do 45mpg through town and >50mpg on a run, I got 50mpg yesterday on my way to castle combe following a 400bhp nsx doing between 90 and 110 mph all the way 70 mph all the way ;)

As above seems like a good deal u got as i only paid 300 quid less for a 54 plate with 70000 miles (with fsh and 2 year warranty)

Welcome and good luck with purchase

Hey there. Yes the cars are still made in Czech but the build quality is stll very good! Yes the mechanicals are VAG and the engine is the 130PD seen in countless Golfs, Passats and A4s etc. It's a good engine with bags of torque but make sure the engine has been runon the correct oil 505.01 5w 40 or walk away as it is ESSENTIAL to use this stuff to avoid a wrecked engine. Car is great fun and pulls well but the handling in standard guise is a bit baggy with a bit too much roll for my taste but plenty of grip. Reliability is fine judging by what's posted here but mine blew its turbo at 35000. Just make sure car has a lot of history and get documatation for any chipping or re-mapping.

DO IT!!!! the car is only worth what you think it is ;)

i picked mine up today, and alls i want to do is drive it :(

very happy with mine, i now pay less insurance, less tax, and less on fuel per year, and touch wood, less on repairs too i.e. none in 18 months

love mine, cant see me getting rid any time soon

i brought my vrs over the phone having never driven 1. mine was from main dealership mind, but couldnt be more happy with the 500 mile drive back home! as for insurance i persume youve tried all the compare sites as im 23 and just renewed mine yesterday, £280.

£280. thats cheap for a 23 year old, with a big excess I assume.

I got mine when I was 19 with a claim against me and its £1300 FC. might seem like a lot but they wanted £1200 for my 1.8 306 :giggle:

And its good you've got one that standard to.

I'm 19 too :) mine's £1500ish FC

Hey thks everyone for the replies am off to look at one tonight , this has been a tough desicion for me buying a skoda lol am 38 been driving a 2.8 vr6 and still a little unsure never been like this before buying a car ,my insurance is £480 fully com 250 excess my golf was 550 group 18, u think with 15 yrs no claims and hgv1 driver it be cheaper this is at esure who am already with done the price sites to about the same.

lol as writing this am still worried about buying a fabia lol or any car for that matter just want a cheaper to run fun car cant see any other diesels that fit the bill maybe a vauxhall 150 sri , doh am going mad lol

this is normal! you a scared you are going to buy a lemon arent you?

once the car has ticked all the boxes that fit your needs and the standard ones FSH MOT TAX blah blah blah...... stop thinking and part with the cash.....

I had to do that yesterday im gonna find something wrong but i dont care any more! its a fantastic car...

the insurance will be dearer, as I assume you have an old vr6? The newer the car, the more the insurance as it's technically worth more! I don't know why it's so much, but I would suggest you maybe check around a bit more, because hat does seem expensive! Hope that helps a little. Check rear footwells for dampness/mould. Don't be too put if there is some there though, as it is a cheap and easy fix, with plenty of people on here happy to help.

I've had my car 6 months, not had a single problem yet (apart from the water ingress, fixed for about £10-£15, with a little help). All in all, its a good car, very modifiable (if you're into that) and I don't have any complaints about mine, not even with the handling as standard!!

I promise you - as soon as you put your foot down in the vRS your decision will be made. Don't buy a Vauxhall buddy, vRS much better. I love mine and won't be swapping it anytime soon.

BOUGHT, NOT BROUGHT

BOUGHT, NOT BROUGHT

how bizarre, I was always taught at school the correct word was "brought" and "bought" indicated "to buy"
