Any ideas on financing my new car?

If it's your own money, get a nearly new. Potentially up to a third off OTR new price from the right dealer.

Just looked on the Trader and there's a few 2.0 TDi L&K Estates within twelve months old for around £18k. Haggle a bit towards £17k and thats nearly 4k less than your nigh on £21k OTR price, which is about 9 months payment saved.

You'll still have 2 years warranty (the length of time you say you keep a car) or 50-55,000 miles depending on whether you hit 60k miles before the warranty runs out.

Seriously, unless someone else is paying full stop, or you've come across a serious amount of money (of which treating yourself to a brand new car is a drop in the ocean) then I can't understand why you'd buy a new over a nearly new. But hey, it's your money not mine!

Have a look at carfinanceforyou.co.uk

you tell them how much you can buy for, whaqt the deposit is and they tell you the PCP price.

Don't forget that with a PCP when you get to the half the finance time, you can just give it back without paying anything extra as long as you don't go above the total agreed mileage.

With the current no VAT and 0% finance iyou can get to the prices above for a brand new one. As an example I got £4.5k of the list price of my new VRS I have just ordered. With that kind of discount it does not make sense to buy anything but a new car (compared to a nearly new)..

PSM did you haggle for that or use Drive the Deal? good price!

when I went in to the dealer, and gave him the drive the deal price, he said that they cant match it as it is about 1k less than the vat free price.

He said the issue with DTD is that they dont do the finance, and so it would be difficult to meet the monthly payments. This I do not agree with, and will still search for online finance at a better rate.

The guy in the dealershiop however did say, he is sure that they can do somehting.

I have looked at Autotrader, but the cars are not 'as my spec' and am happy to pay more to get what I want.

I used drive the deal price and also gave them the webuyanycar price for trade in. THe salesmen went away and thn gave me his best price which came pretty close to the changeover price from the 2 above. Fortunately there was no real need to haggle back and forth. I was very open at the start in that I was there to buy a car but the price needed to be close to what I was showing him.

I dont have a part ex as I am sending my car back to the finance company (have paid 50%)

I have been open enough with 3 dealers, and said 'I am buying an L%K. you are all trying to sell me the same car, so give me the best deal and I will go with you'

In my line of business if somebody tells me that they have seen the saem buy cheaper, they might have seen somehting like it, but as it is software, it cant be exactly hte same (as it is our own software) whereas with the car, it is exactly the same car, so I hope this will work.

I could get somehting much much cheaper, but want a nicer car as I am doing more mileage.

I have now found an affordable way via the Skoda PCP over 42 months at 7.9%.

I have the risk that when I go over the allocated mileage it may cost me, but I will have to see what happens in 3 years as I never keep the car that long.

The problem with a car allowance is that it gets taxed, so my £300 a month ends up being a lot less, and I really dont want to stick to another 407 pre reg.....

Ive just ordered my Octy on PCP with 25000 mile/year limit.... you might want to talk to another dealer.

where have you ordered ti from?

You can get 25k per year, BUT the skoda limit on a PCP mileage is 80k. so, if you have taken it over 3 years then that is fine.

I ordered mine from loders skoda in Yeovil, did most of the deal over the phone. If you want to give it a go ask for richard street. Hes quite good for a salesman - when he said 8 to 12 weeks delivery I gave him some grief so he went and searched the system for any available cars. Lo and behold, the exact spec I wanted was sitting outside the factory in germany (and I thought it would be the Czech republic!).
