A mix of ages but, I detect, a bias to the higher end. Expecting my pension this year and a proud "bus pass" owner for four.

We downsized. Following a spate of trailer sailers, we moved from Terrano to X-Trail to Yeti. Before that a mix of company cars, mostly Ford.

In my opinion!!! the Yeti is not a car suited to family life, the inside is just too small. The point, people forget, is that it is not possible to drop the rear seats when carrying a family. So, although the boot volume is reasonable due to the height to the roof, the floor area is just too small.

Now I know I will be shouted down!!! But there won't be many of you out there who have had the experience of packing for a week's holiday in the back of a TVR Tuscan. I soon learnt how to get a gallon into a pint pot never mind the quart.

Because I was bored I have posted a graph showing Yeti ownership by age against the national average of full car driving licence owners. It's under the polling results on Page 1.

Interesting data set, is that from SMMT? I'd be interested in obtaining some of that data myself.

From the Department for Transport web site:

Brilliant, thank you. This is quite interesting: http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/http://www.dft.gov.uk/adobepdf/162469/221412/221552/228196/228215/carsmakeandmodeltheriskofdri1801

I guess any new drivers should take a look at this before getting any new cars - might help with the insurance! It always surprised me how the insurance on my first car which was a Mondeo 1.8 when I was 19 was cheaper than 1.6 Golf, Focus etc.

Now that IS interesting. On page 20 of the document in that link (Table B - Risk of injury to drivers by various factors) there's a real stand-out figure. The percentage risk of a fatal accident in an MPV or four wheel drive is less than 0.01% compared to 0.4 - 0.5% in all other vehicle size groups.

I thought it would be a lower risk, but not that much lower :o
