Fabia 1.2 6v oil level . Please help

Featured Replies

Please excuse my briefness., am doing this on my mobile as my bb is down. Any way did oil change today . Haynes say 2.4 ltrs oil req for my engine type. Awq. Did this and oil did not mark dip stick. Looked at tech details that came with car and it says 3.4 .so ive added the extra ltr. Now i fear i have added too much. Can any1 shed any light on this .

Go by the level on the dipstick, Haynes is a book of lies on many things.

Starting tn loose faith in them now., new plugs in today also, bet gap is wrong too. . . Thinking wil have to drain off some oil. Not happy at 42 quid for 5litres. . . Phoned 2 skoda service centres and one said 3.4 and the other said 2.4 for the oil . . . .

Use the dipstick. The new ones in the tubes can be difficult to read I agree, but take it out, wipe it clean, push it back in, leave a second, remove, and look for the level where the oil is all the way around the dipstick. If you need to drain it the best thing to use is one of the pumps where you put the tube down the dipstick hole (saves having to drain the whole lot again). They're about £40 in screwfix.

Hi,

my lad has an 2003 6v and in the owners handbook pack there's a separate technical data booklet dated 08.02 which states 3.4 litres for the 1.2 40kW.

As a seprate point the guide also lists a 4 cylinder 1.0 37kW engine; not aware of this size of motor being fitted to a Fabia.

Regards,

TP

The 1.0 was a mainland EU option I think. Can't see there being much demand for it over here really. Can't see the point of it if it's only 3kw less powerful than the 1.2 anyway.

Thanks,

wondered if that might have been the case or possible the 1.2 6v might have superseded it :wonder:

Thanks all for comments. Have now removed 600ml via sump plug leaving 2.8ltrs and dip stick stick showing half way between the min and the max. . . So lesson learnt. . . Mr haynes aint always right. . . So i would think that the engine would take another 100ml at least to bring it to the max , totaling 2.9 l

Although the manual states 2.8l i think they take a bit more. Mine has on both services when iv take it had about 3+L put in and it only just touches the top of the dipstick.

In regards to the 1.0 think it was on sale here in about 2000 for a few months, also in europe they got a low powered version of the 1.4 mpi which had bout 60bhp whereas we got the high powered 68bhp.
