vibrating tdi

Featured Replies

My octavia 1.9 tdi has had some vibration on acceleration for some time and although its not got any worse, im determined to sort it once and for all.The vibration can be felt through the steering wheel and the pedals and is present only on hard acceleration in any gear. Ive replaced the rear wheel bearings, front and rear shocks and springs, discs and pads, top suspension mounts and bearings(all as a matter of course as all were wearing), fitted superpro wishbone and arb bushes, new bottom balljoints, new dogbone, and still it does it.Idont think its the dmf, as it does it at any revs in any gear but seems to smooth out if I release the throttle slightly. Today , I removed the front wheels and checked all was ok and noticed that if I gripped the o/s driveshaft and tried to move the wheel, that there was some play in the outer cv joint ,(ie I could rotate the wheel a few mm and the driveshaft would not move)The wheel bearings seem ok so do you think that this could be the cause of the roughness? The car is a 90 bhp tdi which has been re mapped and apart from this, runs like a dream. Any advice appreciated thanks.

Yes , but this feels like driving over cats eyes ,, but to a much lesser extent.

Update ... replaced n/s driveshaft complete and the vibration on acceleration has gone, so anyone with similar symptoms , check inner driveshaft cv joint for play.
