Air filter/plugs renewal

I've given up looking at the service manual. When does my VRS TFSI need new plugs and air intake filter? It's 37months old, done 32000miles and on a long service schedule which is done about once a year usually around 14000 miles and will be due around September this year. Surely it must need them soon. I don't expect to change the cambelts & water pump until mid next year when it will be about 4.5 years old.
