Do I need Nuts or Bolts for the wheels?

Featured Replies

My standard wheels are 15x6 with 43et 5x100

I have bought some vw golf mark 4 alloys 15x6 5stud x 100 but 38 offset

Will my original bolts/ nuts fit direclty if the offset is different?

edit: just realised i posted in Fabia I section, feel free to move if neccessary. Thanks.

even with the different offset?

I went to my local garage and asked if they could take the steel wheels off and put the alloys on, but they said I would need new bolts/nuts...

VW group cars use the same bolts regardless of alloys or steels, and use the same design bolts across the board. I took the steel wheels of my old Fabia and replaced them with 16" Polo Sport wheels using the same bolts with no problems. After market or replica wheels use a different style of bolt to OE wheels - maybe this is what your garage were thinking about? If in doubt, take a bolt off and offer it up to your new wheel. It should seat properly and have sufficent thread sticking out the back of it

so it's bolts i need, not nuts, in that case i'll need to get locking wheel bolts. i went to halfords but there's so many different sizes/shapes...
