Hi all,

Nice sunny day, so decided to swap the oil pressure switch which has been leaking for some time. Had bought a new one from the main agent, based on the registration number. The one I was given is a screw thread type. I have just been to change it and the one fitted to the block seems to be completely different. Much shorter, no hex flats, just what appeared to be a round plastic(?) body with a flange, through which a bolt clamps it to the block.

Anyone any idea whether these are different variants base on the year of manufacture? The engine is the 1.4 8v on a 'y' plate vehicle, an AQW engine.

Vagcat.com (free registration needed) will list them - different ones will have different part numbers. Bear in mind sometimes parts will change slightly in appearance but keep the same part number.

They have supplied you the correct one, it will be quite close to the oil filter. The camshaft sensor is quite close to the oil filter as well, which is where I think that your confusion lies.

As it happens, my wife has said that the oil warning is on, even though the oil level is correct, so may need the new one after all!
