'99 110bhp Octavia rear disc sizes/special tool.

Featured Replies

Hello, my next door neighbour has a 1999 110 TDi Octavia hatch and needs new discs and pads.

A local motor factor said they can be 280mm or 288mm, can anyone help with the size of these?

Also, I seem to remember from my wifes old Fabia VRS that a special tool is needed for winding the caliper pistons back in...is that the case on Octavia's?

Thanks for reading.

Mike.

The TDI 110 will have 280mm up front almost certainly.

If you look at the callipers through the wheels, if you can see FS III impressed into the callipers then it is 280mm.

That is for the front and the rears do indeed need a suitable winder tool.

Hi mate and many thanks for the reply.

He must have meant the fronts.

Are the tools expensive?

Thanks.

About £15 IIRC for the winder tool.

You can use it front and rear as it makes it easier at the front.

£20 quid from halfrauds or maybe a bit cheaper from your local motor factors.

That's great info, many thanks to all of you.

Or find a local member who might lend you the tool

For doing the fronts, one can just use a g-clamp. Wind back tool tool is handy for the rears, but not necessary (pain in the backside without!)

Used ' Laser 1314 ' for my Fabia VRS, on its rear brake calipers, should do same job for you.

Managed to depress front piston with hands easily, but as mentioned G clamp will do.

Note-- Keep eye on brake reservoir for possible over flow of fluid.

I had small syringe and sucked a drop out.
