felicia problems

Featured Replies

yeah so ive got a couple of problems with my car

one is that is only decides to start occassionly i turn the key once and it won't start, i turn the key again and again then i rock it in gear and it usually starts.. i think it may be a sticky starter?

the other problem is that it feels a bit odd steering wise sometimes i'm guessing its alignment, paranoia or brakes binding a bit?

and it is drinking coolant/ running a bit hot so is this temp sensor?

i may be wrong and any help is appreciated even if you tell me to stop being so paranoid

cheers bobby

When you say "won't start" do you mean "won't turn over"? Sounds like it, if so, could well be the starter, but could possibly be battery/lack of charge (unlikely if it starts later, but possible), or a dodgy connection to the battery/starter.

What does the car do when you're driving along a straight, flat road and take your hands off the wheel?

What does it do if you brake without your hands on the wheel (again, straight flat road, obviously).

If it's drinking coolant then it's either an external leak or the head gasket / head has gone. Should be easy enough to diagnose. Fixing it could be another matter

start trouble - if it's dead silent when you turn the key (no relay click, no whining from starter) it could also be a dodgy ignition barrel, not uncommon with Felicias.

Yeah, but rocking it in gear suggests a segment has burnt out on the starter motor; classic diagnosis.

Starter motors nearly always stop in one of two places, so those if one of those segments burn out, you are pooched.
