dare i ask how many owners have had to replace the oil pump and what milage and cost ?

well my car has done 36k miles and is due for its 3rd service and i have had no issues with my car at all...oil pump issues are on here but ive no idea what the prices are to remove and replace......personally i would increase the servicing side to twice a year oil/filter and try not to worry about it. The last thing i want is to end up a nervous wreck !!

My oil pump drive went at about 80,000 miles. I was driving in town and managed to stop quickly. It was fixed under extended warranty for about £2,300. The turbo had to be replaced as well.

thanks for your interest as suggested in a previous post i have spoken to my dealer dm keith leeds who have 4 branches in west yorks skoda oil pumps theyhave replaced 2 only at high mileage around 80.000 part cost £15.approx labour time max 3hrs cost just over £ 200 so its livable with . not total disaster certain members keep on mentioning .of course it would mean stop and call recovery.they also said the bss dpf 140.must onlly use the rec oil by skoda and top up fluid again should last 80.000 in their experience thats from the honest dealership . soi can sleep at night again

FWIW 80k is not high mileage.

380k miles might be, 280k is getting there but 80k is nothing for a derv.

I think that high mileages that are mentioned are done by taxi drivers and reps and other people who drive for a living....i myself have done 85k in two years of a combination of local town and motorway miles.....mind you thats in a small iveco tipper :giggle: ....in my opinion for someone like my wife for example, who does 10k miles a year in our superb, then she would see 80k as high mileage...or 8ys ownership...but the average person wont attain the starship mileages that you mentioned, being driven by different people and of course different servicing done by different garages...and not many people hang onto their cars for more than 5years on average.

I myself have driven into the ground basically a total of 5 transit tippers and in a couple of years time the iveco tipper...and then be given another new truck. Its how one percieves high mileages....yes of course 380k miles is classed as starship miles, compared to say 80k which is classed as low miles......depending how old the car is. My car has just turned to 37k miles in a touch over 3yrs, so that is basically low miles...for someone who likes their superb will consider that to be a good buy in the near future. If i was looking to purchase another superb in the near future and came across say for example 2 models one with starship mileage or one with low miles then naturally id go for the low mileage vehicle....or brand new if i could afford it....which is what im aiming for again in a few years time. And of course if the car came with starship mileages then i wouldnt be offering very much for it, as it would probably be on its last legs or being broken up for spare parts!! hehe...but as we know the superb does tend to depreciate quite a lot, but where can you buy a decent car with spec and the comfort and reasonable ecconomy? and have above all the stamped service book.

So reading this thread and others about the oil pump issues, is basically the luck of the draw, it all depends on how many miles the car has done, how it has been serviced and obviously has it been serviced correctly...if it has, then by the time the vehicle has reached 80k miles , then according to the years it has been driven then it would be probably time to p/x it for another car....maybe the dealers should put in their service book.....renew car after 80k miles or 8 yrs which ever is the sooner :giggle:

i agree with all the comments i suppose main dealers wont forecourt cars of 80k so in there eyes it is high milage and would sell them to trade .the reason for this topic was to try to find out what milage i could do as near as possible. i bought new in dec 06 after retiring from 40 years on the road as sales rep 30000 a year .cars were kept 2/3 years and sold as major parts were needed around that milage possible the first v/w golf diesel in1981 with no fancy electronics would have lasted now done 14.500 miles in my superb from new so hopefully got some credits left with it yet but cannot agree that it is a lemon as some would say and even going on to mk 2 forum and naming that one also one
