Sat on the drive waiting for a reply lol

under the vac reservoir :D do you have spares?

might just need regap of the plugs? I had it on cyl 2 the other day and plug was at .031 so tapped it back down to .028 and all good :D

There are two kinds of 1.8T owners in this world, ones that have coilpack failure... and ones that are going to get coilpack failure :giggle:

Nice one, Going to pick four up this afternoon, might as well do them all, if one has gone the other have probably seen betters days

Does the gap move over time then ??

That is very true lol

BEFORE YOU SPEND ALL THAT MONEY:

I run with the NGK BKR7E's and when I fitted them they were all gapped by my mechanic so I guess they can move? Like I said It developed a missfire on No. 2 cylinder so rather than just swap out coil packs like I have in the past I had just recently bought a set of four BKR7E's ready for service time and also got one of the plug gap disc tools, Sealy I think? I checked the gap and it was .031, adjusted and no more missfire. Reminds me I must check the others as well :D

I always assumed that most of my missfires were due to coilpacks, an easy assumption to make based on the amount of info on the subject. But since I had the issues with the brand new set of Bosch super 4's I always recommend checking the gap on the plugs before stumping up for new coilpacks. I bought 2 full sets of boltdowns and still had missfires due to **** plug gaps (the Bosch super fours aren't supposed to need gapping? but switching to the BKR7E's was the best move I have made yet). Luckily I did not throw the coilpacks away as they developed issues as they only missfired under extreme conditions, I have now tried some of them again and they are mostly good :D so I have plenty of spares both normal and boltdowns :D

I think I got those plugs, they are from Euro parts about £20 for four

They sound familiar I'm sure

you can get them cheaper than that? I paid £11 :D

I assume it goes 1,2,3,4 from left to right as you look at the engine from the front?

Nah, I blagged a lift down to work as TPS is not far and it's payday !!!!

Your doing the right thing replacing all 4 at the same time......i made the mistake of just replacing the one failed one on mine a few months ago(money was a bit tight!) & all was well for 2 months & i forgot all about it then one night leaving work........yep you guessed it,another one failed on me! then i replaced the others! :D

thats why it is recommended to always carry a spare one, the AA and RAC vans are supposed to carry at least 2 each?

and tt coils are too short.... bugger

mine just went...******, said 4 when i scanned it, now its saying 1,3,4....bugger

check the earth conection and the insulation on the coilpack loom as it is unusual for three to go?

and tt coils are too short.... bugger

do you mean the boltdown type? as they do seem to be short as they don't grip like the pushins but when bolted down the contact will be OK. I had the same worry when I changed from pushdowns to boltdowns as well but they are fine.
