looking good James, wide stance

looks good mate what size spacers?

It certainly pumps up the look of the car. Will it affect handling and does the insurance company need to know?

Doesn't seem to have affected the handling, and not sure about the insurance. Surely if you're playing it by the book you shuld tell them of any modification.

They are 15mm spacers

did you use longer bolts?

yes you should tell them of any mods, brokers like chris knott/adrian flux/brentacre use insurers like highway who have special policies for modified cars. If you are with a normal insurer they may not like you changing your car. A modification is deemed as any change from the standard parts on the vehicle basically.

Has it been lowered at all?

looks good mate :D

Looks lovely man. Spacers really give it a fatter stance. Whats the front lip you have on it?

Looks like a Seat Cupra splitter to me :)

Cheers for all your comments! It has been lowered, about 30mm. I think it sits just about right (gets over speed humps no problem)

it's on eibach springs and I know there is a member on here who says they're no good but I'm more than happy with them

yes you do need longer bolts, but these should come with the kit (make sure you get hubcentric spacers not just shims!

Front splitter is off a leon cupra r. Fitted one to most of my VAG cars I've owned, can't be them

Next mod I want to make is either rarb, cruise control fitted at awesome or a det cat. Mods are as follows:

Revo select plus remap

K&N induction

Lowered 35mm

15mm wheel spacers all round

LCR splitter

What do you all recommend? I'm thinking decat next, a mechanic friend of mine can do it very cheap

Let me know what you think

There is more than one member on this forum who will tell you not to fit Eibach springs to a Mk1 Octy vRS, Eibach "DO NOT" list a spring for this car, and even Eibach themselves will tell you not to fit them to this car..

Eibach do not make a specific spring for the Mk1 Octy vRS, and to fit a non specific one will be totally wrong as the rear poundage will be totally wrong for the car.

Been there, tried that, and know for a fact they do not work.

If you doubt me, then have a word with Sarah at Awesome or Eibach direct.

HI

Yes , the Eibach springs are not reccomended on the Octy vRS , the wieght is incorrect on the rear

We have had loads complaining about them

Even Eibach do not reccomend them

But hey , if you have them and are happy , fair play to you

If you are having cruise control fitted , then do APR remap

As the remap with cruise control comes with all options free

£500 ish worth FOC

That is standard , 95 , 98 and 99RON fuels

Fault code errase , throttle body rest , and the best one , anti theft

That means if anyone was to steal yoour keys , then they could not drive your car away

It also works as cruise control too

There is some more info on that

Hope that helps?

Fair play Sarah I appreciate your response. I only paid £40 for the suspension, and the car sits lovely. Maybe that's why I also like them.

Just a quick question, can anyone tell me why the spring rate is wrong on the vrs rear, not front?

I would have thought the rear of all octavias would be the same (apart from estates and 4x4 obviously) surely it would be the front, with the weight of the engine?just a thought

I can agree with Gerry on his comments about Eibach not being suitable for the MK 1 VRS.

I have tried these too and would not have them on my car. Appreciate you may not have a lot to compare if these have been the only set you have changed to, but I have had around set different sets of suspension on my car and those Eibachs are the worst by miles. Wait till you try a different set meant for the car and you will know what we are stating.

Most Eibachs for the VAG group are for Golf/Octy estates so the poundages are very different and so is the rebound rate on the springs. What Gerry and I found was that the Eibach springs did not feel positive around bends and brisk driving, especially when you start to brake whilst turning. Even braking on a staright line used to make my car want to shift left and right. I would actualy say they felt dangerous on my car. The Octy VRS MK 1 is a fussy car with suspension, and unless the kit is for the VRS don't by it.

Experience tells a lot on these cars. I would imagine that if you drive spirited and apply firm braking your rear of the car will start to wonder.

Fair play if you get on with them though...

hey James,

hows the car coming on,

the other guys are right, the octy is really fussy about what it uses,

i would not use them considering the lengty posts and discussions about problems with eibachs, as eibach also state not to use them, i think that sums it up.

Just a thought, sell them on to another owner who can use them without issue, and buy the weitecs that are for sale in the for sale thread that westallc is selling.

I like bowders, bodge, westallc and several other members use these without issue. They are made by KW and are top notch!

The hatch and the estate are only a few mm differnece in length

So not that far off

The MK4 Golf has a smaller boot than the Octavia by quite a bit

That is what the differences is

To be fair the Bora and the Octavia are the ones that usually match more , but then , the Bora has completely differnet . thjat is why people have issues with the rear

But hey , if you ahve paid that much , and you are happy :) you have done well ;)
