My first attempt at waxing

Featured Replies

Well today i paid a trip to NE Detailing to get me some wax for our cars.

Lovely Aston Martin there being cleaned with a lambo in the garage. (on a side note i am actually going to elvington tomorrow to drive a aston martin.... SO EXCITED!!!!)

Spoke to one of the guys there and asked which would be a resonably durable wax which was easy to use and be good for my antricite gray fabia and my girlfriends corsa yellow Alpha romeo Mito.

He suggested Dodo juice Hard Candy at £30 which was reasonable. ( i had been looking at colly 465 or whatever its called due to its gloss and durability and price but they dont stock it)

Then it was back to the house to foam, wash, dry and wax both cars. 6 hours later with a sore back lol first coat is done.

Due to my driving experiance tomorrow it wont get the second coat till monday and will post pics then!

I still need practice with getting the correct amount of wax on the car, i think i may not have had enough on the mito and too much on the fabia but not bad for my first go!

What are your views with regards to Hard candy?

Please dont forget that applying wax is only part of the process.

Wax is for protection only NOT to give a shine, thats for polishes and glazes

I did this on my new car:

1. Autobalm Claybar after a good wash and snow foam treatment followed by another wash and a good dry

2. Autoglym Super Resin Polish (Applied once)

3. Poorboys Black Hole Glaze (2 coats) ....Allow an hour between treatments

4. Poorboys EX-P Sealer ( 3 Coats)

5. Autoglym Hi Definition Wax (1 coat)

well both cars are new ish (fabia 2 months old tho 1 month of that in getting fixed, and mito just a month old)

Both cars were treated with supaguard so didnt want to clay and remove this treatment just yet.

In all honesty it's not that great................durability is poor and the product IMO is just very well marketed, just my opinion though................... :|
