ASR Issue, Engine losing power

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

I'd like to share a problem I experience with my skoda fabia 2001.

I bought the car at xmas from a friend of my brother in law who put a new set of tires onto the car before selling it to me.

After a month or so I got a flat wheel and after replacing the wheel the car developed a chronic problem with the ASR. As soon as I got to 40kmph the anti traction kicked in and cut the power to the engine. In order to drive the car I had to turn the ASR off. I brought the car to 2 seperate garages, showed it to mechanic friends of mine and each one was as puzzled as the next.. They all seemed to think it was either an electrical or a sensor issue.

Eventually one of them found out what the issue was.

The two new wheels that were bought before I took the car were 5mm smaller than the size required. This was enough to set the sensors off kicking in the ASR.

Its a funny little problem which I hope will save someone else a little bit of hassle

I was going to suggest this when I saw the title lol
