Coilovers.

Featured Replies

Ok im in the market for Coilovers while Jabba sorts the flyby map switch out. :p

I have looked at a few and for my budget i'm kinda set on: (don't wanna go as high as £800 really)

- KW V1 (basics)

- Weitec Hicon GT

I say these 2 cos:

KW always get a good write up but never really hear people talk about real world use.......

And

Whitec cos, never seen write ups but people love them on there cars.....

Have asked on my Local VAG forum and they all love the Weitecs, but the ride can be different on the different cars.

Who has what and what are they like?

I'm beginning to be more set on the Weis

i spent weeks reading what to do and plumped for the weitecs, fitted them saturday, and im impressed, most inportant part to me was comfort level as i only really wanted them to remove the rediculous arch gap really, improved handling is a bonus as i bought the car as a economical alternative to my previous car[the fabia will never handle like that no matter what emoticon-0136-giggle.gif ] , i was bracing myself for really harsh ride and was surprised when i found they were no more harsh than the std shocks/eibach spring combo i was using before, infact imo are more comfortable as you dont 'bounce' around over speed bumps etc,

cheers mark emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I have eibach coilovers, and my mate has kw`s. His really does feel stiffer, and tighter. Really nice for gunning it, and round the corners, but i dont know if that would fuss you day to day?! It wouldnt me, hence why they are on my shopping list :D

The KW V1 Basic and Weitec Hicon GT are very very similar coilovers and out on the road I don't think you'd notice that much difference so if it was me I'd lean towards the Weitec's and use the spare cash for a rear ARB or some other mod. B)

the weitec's are good i got them fitted and really like the ride! handles much better too!

V1 Inox on mine.

I'd say there is a slight difference in damping between Weitec and KW but depends whether you'd notice it or not..

Probably best to save the cash and go Weitec.

Well the weekend toy fell through, going to order the Weitec this week, and when pay day rolls in will be ordering a jabbba RARB

plus the usual Cupra bushes.

What do you recommend changing with the coilovers? or just swap them over?

Depending on mileage, the top mounts are also a good idea.

We also have the Whiteline rear ARBs on a GB at the moment for £135 all in which may be of some interest to you.

went for the Whitec in the end! Hicon GTs i hear they are the better budget setup (they came from the KW factory in Germany!)

Just looking at the diogram above and the setup i have i am sooo Close to gettting a Hub Splitter and DIY.... then taking it somewhere to get it setup correctly.....

Aye the fabias sit wonky!! Ive had two coilies and no side sits on the same threads on the coilies takes a bit of messing to get it sitting level! Lol

Getting coilies set up properly is half the battle tbh..

Give it to the pros LOL will get it close.

For the sake of a ton or so, i`d rather get them fitted and set up properly tbh, quite a important bit of the car, and woth getting right.

definatly mate, but my query is to whether the spring might sag on my side as nobody else sits in the car emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

£150 plus tracking at about £50 - £200 or a mate for beer money and then tracking?

Its quite a fiddle doing the fronts.

You will get the number 10 with the new coilovers and the three number 12's are fine to swap.
