EPC AND ASR LIGHTS ON

Featured Replies

RIGHT where do i start with this problem ive had this problem now for 4 years and its beging to p#ss me off now right here we go , it started out as epc and asr lights would come on losse power go into limp mode then the brakes would go ,stop n start car few times fault would go away maybe for a hour or a day or so then come back, took it to a brill garage put his comp on comin up angle sensor 2 voltage to low for basic setting so reset seemed ok for a week ,come back again so had throttle bodie cleaned yet again seemed ok for a day or two , in the end had it replaced but not cured the problem changed coil packs and plugs all earthin points still no joy, so he said it must be a faulty ecu so bit the bullet got a good second hand one ......... jason from more bhp came and fitted it and remapped at the same time car felt great no problems at all for 4-5 months yes got it i thought so me being me brought a milltek system other day get it boked in to put on and yes the dreaded fault came back , but in that 4 months of it being ok i had a bump in it wich had to be sent away for repairs new back axle and offside suspension (sort of went sideways on to a roundabout in the snow and hit it square on offside lol) got car back and within a week of it been back the fault came back , now on saturday just gone it was playin up and it wud not clear how many times i tried to start it so had to resort in gettin rac out to it put his comp on and it came up angle sensor 2 voltage to low for basic setting misfire on 1 n 2 and multiple misfire and lambda sensor .............. so has anyone had this problem before because ive stummped 4 garages includin skoda main dealer and a rac man

The angle sensor I think it is referring to would be the Camshaft angle sensor, this is located under the cambelt top cover on the left hand side of the engine. The ECU uses it to figure out what position the cams are at hence which valves are open and closed and which injectors need to inject fuel at that point. The other fault codes you got would seem to support that as it has made it misfire several times, probably because it injected fuel too early or late because it didn't know what position the cams were at. The lambda fault could also be because unburnt fuel has got into the exhaust system.

As far as I know the angle sensor is only one part so it should be a straightforward "take it off and replace it" fix.
