Sensible lowering options

Featured Replies

Hi on fri or sat going to look at getting some springs for my car? Now the problem is i live in st austell and have to navigate my way through some god awfull speed ramps. I have a splitter on the front and was wondering what other people have lowered it by and if they've had any problems? im looking at 20-25mm drop am i just being to over cautious and drop some more or is this about right? Also any recommended springs?

id say lower by 25mm so u can still go over speed humps and keep the front splitter intact, eibach loweing springs are meant to be good.

I had my Eibachs fitted earlier this year and have to say I'm well happy with the results.

I had them fitted on the original dampers and bought some new bumpstops which were shortened. ;)

The drive feels tighter, handling to me seems better. However the main reason I fitted them was for the looks, many people have said that the way the Fabia Vrs sits on Eibachs is the way it should've looked when it was driven off the production line and now I'm one of those people! B)

The fabia is so high, put any springs on it`ll still go over speed bumps no problem at all.

It's always best to get matched springs and shocks as it'll give you a better ride quality and also better handling but if you just want to do the springs, as mentioned, the Eibach Pro's are a great option.

TBH mate you can get coilovers and go right to the floor and still get over speedbumps... it just means you have to use 1st gear and go slowly! :)

its what i plan to do.:giggle:B)

Its what I do anyway and i'm not lowered! Less wear and tear on the suspension!

Should be lowered on my coilovers tomorrow, tracking at the weekend! :D

Koni STR.T kit will lower approx 25mm ish on the vRS

A few have had these fitted

I have them on my 100PD for over 100k miles now , and still OK

Eibach springs -25mm. and Koni dampers are a very popular combination for all VAG cars . I have them and they work very well. Shame they don't do a -35mm kit would have been perfect ride height for a VRS and still not have issues with speed bumps. You have to get the shockers at the same time James or you'll regret it a few weeks later. Having both done at the same time and you only have to pay the one fitting charge. You know it makes sense.

Don't think so, think its to do with weight on the springs?

Coilovers FTW!!! Mine are wound right down. When it comes to speedbumps i just get the passenger out, give them the pickaxe and tell them to go balls out on the speedhump!!!!:rofl:

Way to go mate, make em work for their ride.

Hi,

what suspension kit do you suggest for agressive sport driving style in the scottish highlands. I am affraid of any lowering spring kits and so on. There is already lack of space between the ground and oil sump. I am looking for some suspension kit. could you suggest any, please? I have checked your website. I have found Bilstein/Eibach kit would do nicely. But, a price seems to me a waste of money for Fabia 1.9Tdi I just wonder what is difference betwen stock suspension and any of these upgrades. Do you have any experince with these kits, please?

I am not looking for any mental upgrade to my travelling car :o) just decent suspension for tight corners of rough mountain roads.

It might be worth while for you to go for a good quality coilover kit. This will mean you get the handling improvements but can set the car pretty much to what ever height you want.

Something like the Weitec Hicon GT kit is a very good option and also very popular with fellow Brisk members. If you didn't want to spend a s much then there's also the AP's which are also a very good quality kit.

Damien, i have seen a 55mm spring and damper kit on your site for the fabia VRS, if i install this kit will it be scraoing the floor every two seconds or will it be reasonable over bumps etc?

thanks
