Redex in CR with DPF?

Featured Replies

Anyone used redex treatment in a common rail diesel with a dpf? Can't seen to find a definitive yes it's ok anywhere on the web. The bottle says it's fine for common rail but no mention of dpf. I might be wrong here but don't almost all new common rail diesels use a dpf, including non-vag group ones?

Whack it in if you feel it's worth it

If it was me... spend your pennies on brand name diseasal and get your detergents that way. Decent oil's definately worth it too. Redex... not seen anything convincing (i.e. proper controlled tests not just hearsay) about any of these additives to be honest.

Wont stick anything like that in a new or an old engine until the benefits are *independantly* proven, which they've never been in any case, ever, at any point in history. Have been a couple of indie trials have found they cause problems though (google it, they float to the top)...

If you're talking fuel system cleaner I've steered away from Redex for our Octavia, which has a DPF, and gone for Forte instead - the dealers use it and the bottle indicates it's OK for DPFs.

If you use a premiun fuel such as Ultimate the better quality additives will do the job, also the fuels are a "cleaner" fraction with more oxygenates. Wouldn't like to comment its worth the extra 7p a litre though.

Do a search, you will find find several cans of worms already open with this name on it.
