ArgHHhh Creak Be Driving Me Mad !

Featured Replies

So. I have a Creak from the rear Passenger side which is now audiable enough to drive me PoTtY !*.#@

It sounds like it is coming from the lower part (B Pillar) passenger Seatbelt but if you put your hand against the rear passenger floor where it rises up to the seat you can feel it transmitting through there .....

So i lubbed up the rear axle/subframe bush on the n/s & it made no difference, I drove up & down my drive with the Boot open, Passenger door open & the rear door open, No difference, So i slacken the bolt that goes through the rear n/s subframe bush, Drive up & down , No difference, I take the bolt out all together, Copper slip it up & replace, No difference. If i jump up & down on the Tow bar, Compressing & releasing the suspension, it does not do it, i have rattled the exhaust & exhaust heat shields but i can not replicate it, I have lowered all the rear seats, No difference, I have pushed & puled everything underneath ..

Have i told you it is driving me Potty :D

The Subframe is poly bushed & they appear to be in V Good order ... I think i am going to disconnect the Xenon leveling arm from the rear axle tomorrow & see if that makes no difference also :giggle: if that fails i am then going to drive it into a Silicone lake for approx 30 Mins to lube the Fecking Lot .....

Help me Please .. :D

Cheers

Ah, HID range control nylon link - that one had me thinking that it was time to change the links on my Passat B5 front suspension! If it is that then you should be able to feel it as you raise that wheel up and down (with the car already off the ground), on my Passat, the spherical ball end had seized in the nylon cup insert and so the nylon cup insert was rotating in the harder nylon rod!

Mine had been creaking for about 6 months off and on then permanently, strangely the same noise had been there for years when the car was being jacked up - but I never considered what could be the cause until I jacked the car up and then placed another jack under the hub, checked all teh obvious parts then was surprised to find that you could feel the noise when you held the link - so much noise for such a small part. I hope that is all that is causing your problem - it will probably not be a stocked item and it can not be eased off with WD-40 etc.

Oh buggar! Ah well worth hoping it was that - still your wallet will not be smarting as much as mine would have been if my amazing collection of alloy arms needed replacing!!

Did some more investigation tonight & re-seated the Rear Arb, To no avail though, Got the Mrs to drive the car whilst i sat in the back with the Rear passenger seats forward, You can feel it through the part of the floor that the seats sit on top of, It seems to be coing from the rear N/S wheel arch if you hold your hand there & is like the creaking of flexing joints, Undulations & turns set it off .. I slackend the rear strut brace right off, Incase it was that flexing / creaking .. but again made no difference ....

So i might remove the N/S shocker & see if that make's it change tune .... Im getting a bit Peed with it now :D

N/S Rear shocker removed tonight .... No difference ... Stripped out all the linings & plastic trim parts from the n/s rear & No difference ... :(

So it must be the n/s rear axle/beam bush , Although im confused as to why slackening the bolt right off that goes through made no difference at all to the noise !!!!

Looks like i shall have to fit some new ones & pray it cures it ....
